والدهر يسمى جذعا لأنه جديد
And time is called jadh' because it is new.
يا ليتني فيها جذع يعني في نبوة سيدنا رسول الله، صلى الله عليه وسلم، أي ليتني أكون شابا حين تظهر نبوته حتى أبالغ في نصرته
Oh, I wish I were young (jadh') in it, meaning in the prophethood of our master, the Messenger of God, peace be upon him; meaning, I wish I were young when his prophethood appears so that I could fully support him.
