فكان ذلك يكسر وزن البيت لأنه كان يلزمه منه حذف ساكن الوتد فتصير متفاعلن إلى متفاعل
And that would break the meter of the verse because it would necessitate the deletion of a quiescent of the foot, changing mutafa'ilun to mutafa'il.
وهذا لا يجيزه أحد
And no one permits this.
فإن قلت: فهلا نونته كما تنون في الشعر الفعل نحو قوله: من طلل كالأتحمي أنهجن
If you say: Why did you not inflect it with nunation as verbs are inflected in poetry, like his saying: From a ruin like the At-Tuhaymi, it is well-formed.
وقوله: داينت أروى والديون تقضين
And his saying: I lent Arwa money, and the debts are being paid.
فكان ذلك يفي بوزن البيت لمجيء نون متفاعلن؟
Would that suffice for the meter of the verse by the arrival of the nun of mutafa'ilun?
قيل: هذا التنوين إنما يلحق الفعل في الشعر إذا كان الفعل قافية
It is said: This nunation only attaches to the verb in poetry if the verb is the rhyme.
فأما إذا لم يكن قافية فإن أحدا لا يجيز تنوينه
But if it is not the rhyme, then no one permits its nunation.
ولو كان نبايع مهموزا لكانت نونه وهمزته أصليتين فكان كعذافر
And if nubayi'u were hamzated, its nun and its hamza would be original, so it would be like 'adhāfir.
وذلك أن النون وقعت موقع أصل يحكم عليها بالأصلية
And that is because the nun occupied the place of an original letter, so it is judged as original.
والهمزة حشو فيجب أن تكون أصلا
And the hamza is an insertion, so it must be original.
فإن قلت: فلعلها كهمزة حطائط وجرائض؟
If you say: Perhaps it is like the hamza in haṭā'iṭ and jarā'iḍ?
قيل: ذلك شاذ فلا يحسن الحمل عليه
It is said: That is anomalous, so it is not good to rely on it.
وصرف نبايع، وهو منقول مع ما فيه من التعريف والمثال، ضرورة
And the inflection of nubayi'u, which is transferred despite its definiteness and example, is a necessity.
