It is said: a long and strong neck (an abta' and a bati' neck). You say from it: the horse has a long neck (bata'a al-faras, with kasra), so it is a horse with a long neck (faras batu'), and the female is batu'ah.
وعنق بتعة وبتع: شديدة، وقيل: مفرطة الطول؛
And a neck that is bati'ah and bati': strong, and it is said: excessively long;
كل علاة بتع تليلها
Every tall one, her long neck is strong.
ورجل بتع: طويل، وامرأة بتعة كذلك،
And a man is batu': tall, and a woman is batu'ah likewise,
البَتْع الطويل العنق، والتلع الطويل الظهر.
Al-batu' is the long-necked, and al-tal' is the long-backed.
من الأعناق البتع، وهو الغليظ الكثير اللحم الشديد،

ويقال: البتع في العنق شدته، والتلع طوله.
And it is said: al-batu' in the neck is its strength, and al-tal' is its length.
ويقال: بتع فلان علي بأمر لم يؤامرني فيه إذا قطعه دونك؛
And it is said: So-and-so cut me off from a matter he did not consult me about if he excluded you from it;
بان الخليط، وكان البين بائجة، ... ولم نخفهم على الأمر الذي بتعوا
The companions separated, and the separation was painful, ... and we did not fear them regarding the matter which they cut off.

قال: هو نبيذ العسل، وهو خمر أهل اليمن.
He said: It is the wine of honey, and it is the wine of the people of Yemen.
وهذا من باب التوكيد.
