Al-ḍaghīṭ is a well that has another well next to it which becomes stagnant and buried, so its water becomes foul and flows into the fresh water, spoiling it; that is 'al-ḍaghīṭ' and 'al-musayṭ'; and he recited:

يشربن ماء الآجن الضغيط، ... ولا يعفن كدر المسيط

They drink the stagnant, foul water... and the turbid 'al-musayṭ' does not rot.
