The well is a well of an old cow, the weak cannot draw from it, except the strong she-camels that help it.
والغامض: العاجز الضعيف
And al-ghāmiḍ: is the weak and incapable.
وناهضة الرجل: قومه الذين ينهض بهم فيما يحزنه من الأمور
And the nahidat of a man: are his people whom he relies on in matters that grieve him.
وما لفلان ناهضة، وهم الذين يقومون بأمره
And so-and-so has no support, and they are those who attend to his affairs.
والناهض: رأس المنكب
And an-nahid: is the top of the shoulder.
وهما ناهضان، والجمع نواهض
And they are two nahids, and the plural is nawahid.
ناهض الفرس خصيلة عضده المنتبرة
The nahid of a horse is the prominent lump of its upper arm.
نبيل النواهض والمنكبين
A noble one with strong shoulders and upper arms.
والناهض اللحم الذي يلي عضد الفرس من أعلاها
