وهي ترى ذا حاجة مؤتضا أي مضطرا ملجأ؛

And she sees a person in need, compelled, seeking refuge;

هذا تفسير أبي عبيد، قال: وأحسن من ذلك أن تقول أي لاجئا محتاجا، فافهم.

This is the interpretation of Abu Ubaid. He said: And better than that is to say, meaning one who is seeking refuge and in need, so understand.

وناقة مؤتضة إذا أخذها كالحرقة عند نتاجها فتصلقت ظهرا لبطن ووجدت إضاضا أي حرقة.

And a she-camel is mu'taḍḍah if she is seized by a burning pain during her birth, and she writhes from back to belly and finds a burning pain.

والأض: الكسر كالعض،

And al-aḍḍ: breaking, like 'breaking' (al-'aḍḍ),
