شكا عمرو بن معد يكرب إلى عمر، رحمه الله، المعص فقال: كذب عليك العسل أي عليك بسرعة المشي، وهو من عسلان الذئب.
Amr ibn Ma'd Yakrib complained to Umar, may God have mercy on him, of al-ma'ṣ, so he said: 'Lie upon you is honey,' meaning, 'Hurry in your walking,' and it is from the wolf's gait.
ومعص الرجل معصا: شكا رجليه من كثرة المشي، وبه معص.
And a man felt pain with pain from excessive walking; he complained of his legs, and he had al-ma'ṣ.
والمعص: أن يمتلئ العصب من باطن فينتفخ مع وجع شديد.
And al-ma'ṣ is when the nerve fills up from within and swells with severe pain.
والمعص في الإبل: خدر في أرساغ يديها وأرجلها؛ قال حميد بن ثور: غملس غائر العينين، عادية ... منه الظنابيب لم يغمز بها معصا
And al-ma'ṣ in camels is numbness in the pasterns of their forelegs and hindlegs; Hamid ibn Thawr said: A swift, deep-eyed, old camel... its fetlocks were not massaged due to numbness.
والمعص أيضا: نقصان في الرسغ، والمعص والعضد والبدل واحد.

And al-ma'ṣ is one who acquires al-ma'ṣ from the camels, which are the young ones; and he recited: You gifted a large, bellowing herd, ... black and white, young and well-bred.
قال الأزهري: وغير ابن الأعرابي يقول هي المغص، بالغين، للبيض من الإبل. قال: وهما لغتان.
Al-Azhari said: And Ibn Al-A'rabi says it is al-maghṣ, with a ghayn, for the young camels. He said: And they are two languages.
وفي بطن الرجل معص ومغص، وقد معص ومغص وتمعص بطني وتمغص أي أوجعني.
And in a man's stomach is al-ma'ṣ and al-maghṣ, and his stomach ached and was pained, and my stomach felt pain and was pained, meaning it hurt me.
وبنو معيص: بطن من قريش.
And Banu Ma'iṣ are a clan of Quraysh.
وبنو ماعص: بطين من العرب، وليس بثبت.
