It is said: 'laḥaṣta fulānan 'an kadhā' and 'al-taḥaṣta-hu' if you restrained and held him back.
وروي عن ابن السكيت في قوله لم تلتحصني أي لم أنشب فيها.
And it is narrated from Ibn al-Sikkīt regarding his saying 'lam taltaḥiṣnī' that it means 'I did not get stuck in it'.
وهو اسم الشدة والداهية لأنها صفة غالبة كحلاق اسم للمنية، وهي فاعلة تلتحصني.
And it is the name for severity and calamity, as it is a prevailing attribute, like 'ḥallāq' is a name for death, and it (the calamity) is the one that traps me.
يقول: لم تلتحصني أي تلجئني الداهية إلى ما لا مخرج لي منه
He means: 'lam taltaḥiṣnī' means the calamity does not drive me to a situation from which I have no escape.
ولحاص أيضا: السنة الشديدة.
And 'liḥāṣ' also means: a severe year.
والتحصت عينه ولحصت: التصقت، وقيل: التصقت من الرمص.
And 'al-taḥaṣat 'aynahu' and 'laḥaṣat': the eye became stuck, and it was said: it became stuck from discharge.
والالتحاص: الاشتداد.
And 'al-iltiḥāṣ': becoming severe.
وسئل عن نضح الوضوء فقال: اسمح يسمح لك، كان من مضى لا يفتشون عن هذا ولا يلحصون
And he was asked about sprinkling for ablution, and he said: Be lenient, and leniency will be granted to you; those who passed by did not investigate this nor were they strict.
التلحيص: التشديد والتضييق، أي كانوا لا يشددون ولا يستقصون في هذا وأمثاله.
Al-talḥīṣ: strictness and constriction, meaning they were not strict nor did they investigate thoroughly in this and its like.
يقال التحصه إلى ذلك الأمر والتحجه أي ألجأه إليه واضطره
It is said: 'al-taḥaṣa-hu ilā dhālika al-amr' and 'al-taḥaja-hu' meaning it forced him to that matter and compelled him.
والالتحاص: الانسداد.
And 'al-iltiḥāṣ': blockage.
والتحصت الإبرة: التصقت واستد سمها.
And 'al-taḥaṣat al-ibrah': the needle got stuck and its point became blunt.
ولحص لي فلان خبرك وأمرك: بينه شيئا شيئا.
And 'laḥaṣa lī fulānun khabaraka wa amraka': so-and-so clarified your news and your matter to me, little by little.
ولحص الكتاب: أحكمه.
And 'laḥaṣa al-kitāb': he mastered the book.
والتلحيص استقصاء خبر الشيء وبيانه.
And 'al-talḥīṣ' is the thorough investigation and clarification of a matter.
وقد كتبت كتابي هذا إليك وقد حصلته ولحصته وفصلته ووصلته، وبعض يقول: لخصته، بالخاء المعجمة.
And I have written this letter of mine to you, and I have comprehended it, clarified it, detailed it, and conveyed it; and some say: 'laḵḵhaṣtuhu' (with the unvoiced velar stop).
