It is that one says to him: 'Dive into the sea for me for such and such a price, and whatever you bring out is yours'.
وإنما نهى عنه لأنه غرر
And he only prohibited it because it is uncertainty (gharar).
والغوص: الهجوم على الشيء، والهاجم عليه غائص
And al-ghawṣ: attacking something, and the attacker upon it is ghā'is.
والغائصة: الحائض التي لا تعلم أنها حائض
And al-ghā'iṣah: the menstruating woman who does not know she is menstruating.
والمتغوصة: التي لا تكون حائضا فتخبر زوجها أنها حائض
And al-mutaghawwiṣah: she who is not menstruating but tells her husband that she is menstruating.
لعنت الغائصة والمتغوصة
The ghā'iṣah and the mutaghawwiṣah are cursed.
فالغائصة الحائض التي لا تعلم زوجها أنها حائض ليجتنبها فيجامعها وهي حائض
So the ghā'iṣah is the menstruating woman who does not inform her husband that she is menstruating, so that he may avoid her, and then he has intercourse with her while she is menstruating.
والمغوصة التي لا تكون حائضا فتكذب فتقول لزوجها إني حائض
And the mughawwiṣah is she who is not menstruating and lies, saying to her husband: 'Indeed, I am menstruating'.
