He said: And whoever says 'urayqiṣāʾ and 'arqasāʾ, that is for the singular, and the plural is extended in one form.

وقال الفراء: العرقصان والعرتن محذوفان، الأصل عرنتن وعرنقصان فحذفوا النون وأبقوا سائر الحركات على حالها، وهما نبتان.

And Al-Farra' said: Al-ʿarqasān and al-ʿartan are shortened, the origin is 'arnatan and 'arnuqṣān, so they deleted the 'nun' and kept the rest of the vowels as they were, and they are two plants.

قال ابن بري: عريقصان نبت، واحدته عريقصانة.

Ibn Barrī said: 'Urayqiṣān is a plant, its singular is 'urayqiṣānah.

ويقال: عرقصان بغير ياء.

And it is said: 'arqasān without a 'ya'.

قال ابن سيده: والعرقصان والعرنقصان دابة؛ عن السيرافي

Ibn Sīdah said: And al-ʿarqasān and al-ʿarnuqṣān are a creature; from Al-Sirafi.

وقال ابن بري: دابة من الحشرات
