And al-ḥirṣ: the tear.
وحرص الثوب يحرصه [يحرصه] حرصا: خرقه، وقيل: هو أن يدقه حتى يجعل فيه ثقبا وشقوقا.
And he tore the garment, he tore it, with tearing: he ripped it, and it was said: it is to pound it until it makes holes and tears in it.
والحرصة من الشجاج: التي حرصت من وراء الجلد ولم تخرقه، وقد ذكرت في الحديث؛

والحارصة والحريصة: أول الشجاج، وهي التي تحرص تحرص الجلد أي تشقه قليلا؛
And the ḥāriṣah and the ḥarīṣah: are the first of the wounds, and it is that which tears the skin, meaning it slightly tears it;
ومننه قيل: حرص القصار الثوب يحرصه [يحرصه] شقه وخرقه بالدق.
And from this it is said: the tailor tore the garment, he tore it, by ripping and tearing it with pounding.
والحريصة والحارصة السحابة التي تحرص [تحرص] وجه الأرض بقشره وتؤثر فيه بمطرها من شدة وقعها؛
And the ḥarīṣah and the ḥāriṣah are the clouds that tear the face of the earth with their scraping and affect it with their rain due to the intensity of their fall;
قال الحويدرة: ظلم البطاح، له انهلال حريصة، ... فصفا النطاف له بعيد المقلع
Al-Ḥuwaydirah said: The plains were darkened, it had a tearing downpour, ... so the drops became clear from afar.
وقيل للشره حريص لأنه يقشر بحرصه وجوه الناس.
And the greedy person is called ḥarīṣ because he peels the faces of people with his greed.
والحرصيان: فعليان من الحرص وهو القشر، وعلى مثاله حذريان وصليان.
And al-ḥirṣiyān: is a pattern from al-ḥirṣ, which is peeling, and similar to it are ḥadhariān and ṣaliān.
يقال لباطن جلد الفيل حرصيان،
The inner skin of an elephant is called ḥirṣiyān,
وقيل في قوله تعالى: في ظلمات ثلاث؛ هي الحرصيان والغرس والبطن،
And it is said regarding the Almighty's saying: 'in three darknesses'; they are the inner skin, the fetus, and the belly,
والحرصيان باطن جلد البطن؛
And al-ḥirṣiyān is the inner skin of the belly;
والغرس ما يكون فيه الولد؛
And al-ghars is what the child is in;
وقال ابن السكيت: الحرصيان جلدة حمراء بين الجلد الأعلى واللحم تقشر بعد السلخ.
And Ibn al-Sikkīt said: Al-ḥirṣiyān is a red skin between the outer skin and the flesh that peels off after skinning.
قال ابن سيده: والحرصيان قشرة رقيقة بين الجلد واللحم يقشرها القصاب بعد السلخ، وجمعها حرصيانات ولا يكسر،
Ibn Sīdah said: And al-ḥirṣiyān is a thin peel between the skin and the flesh that the butcher peels off after skinning, and its plural is ḥirṣiyānāt and it is not broken;
وقيل في قوله ذو ثلاثها في بيت الطرماح عنى به بطنها، والثلاث: الحرصيان والرحم والسابياء.
And it was said regarding his saying 'dhū thalāthahā' in the verse of Al-Ṭarmaḥ, he meant its belly, and the three are: al-ḥirṣiyān, the womb, and the amnion.
وأرض محروصة: مرعية مدعثرة.
And a grazed land: is land that has been grazed and trampled.
والحرصة كالعرصة، زاد الأزهري: إلا أن الحرصة مستقر وسط كل شيء والعرصة الدار؛
And al-ḥirṣah is like al-'arṣah, Al-Azharī added: except that al-ḥirṣah is the resting place in the middle of everything, and al-'arṣah is the dwelling;
وأما الصرحة فمعروفة.
But al-ṣarḥah is known.
