And how can they reach from a distant place; meaning, how can they take faith which is far from them and has become unattainable after it was offered and accepted by them.

والتناوش،. بلا همز، الأخذ من قرب، والتناؤش، بالهمز، من بعد

And al-tanawush, without hamza, is taking from near, and al-tanā'ush, with hamza, is from afar.

وقد تناوش القوم في القتال إذا تناول بعضهم بعضا بالرماح ولم يتدانوا كل التداني

And people engage in tanawush in combat when some of them strike each other with spears without getting too close.

كنت أناوشهم وأهاوشهم في الجاهلية أي أقاتلهم

I used to fight them and engage them in the Jahiliyyah, meaning I fought them.

وجئت نئيشا بعد ما فاتك الخبر

And I came slowly after the news had passed you by.

المعنى وكيف لهم أن يتناولوا ما كان مبذولا لهم وكان قريبا منهم فكيف يتناولونه حين بعد عنهم، يعني الإيمان بالله كان قريبا في الحياة فضيعوه

The meaning is, how can they take what was offered to them and was near them, so how can they take it when it is far from them, meaning faith in Allah was near in life, but they lost it.

نشت من الطعام شيئا: أصبت

I took something from the food: I obtained it.

يقول الله يا محمد نوش العلماء اليوم في ضيافتي

Allah says, 'O Muhammad, invite the scholars today to my hospitality.'

فما أم خشف بالعلاية شادن ... تنوش البرير، حيث طاب اهتصارها

No mother of a young gazelle in Al-'Alayah, a fawn... reaches for the wild grapes, where its plucking is pleasant.

فهي تنوش الحوض نوشا من علا، ... نوشا به تقطع أجواز الفلا

So she reaches for the watering trough with a reach from above, ... a reach by which she traverses the plains.

وانتاشته فيهما: كناشته

And he retrieved it from them: he grasped it.

ورجل نووش أي ذو بطش

And a nawush man, meaning one of strong grasp.

ونشت الرجل نوشا: أنلته خيرا أو شرا

And I bestowed upon the man a bestowal: I granted him good or evil.

الوصفية نوش بالمعروف أي يتناول الموصي الموصى له بشيء من غير أن يجحف بماله

And we continued thus until we mixed with the desert, meaning we mingled with it.
