كأنه أخذه من أفواه الحيات وهو أن يكتسبه من غير حله

As if he took it from the mouths of snakes, which is to acquire it unlawfully.

والمنتهشة من النساء: التي تخمش وجهها عند المصيبة

And the muntahishah among women: she who scratches her face upon a calamity.

أن رسول الله، صلى الله عليه وسلم، لعن المنتهشة والحالقة

That the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, cursed the woman who scratches her face and the woman who shaves her head.

ومن هذا قيل: نهشته الكلاب

And from this it is said: the dogs bit him.
