وَمِنْ نُوقِشَ الْحِسَابُ عَذَّبَ أَيْ مَنِ اسْتُقْصِيَ فِي مُحَاسَبَتِهِ وَحُوقِقَ.
And whoever is scrutinized in his accounts is tormented, meaning whoever is investigated exhaustively in his accounting and questioned thoroughly.
يَجْمَعُ اللَّهُ الْأَوَّلِينَ وَالْآخِرِينَ لِنِقَاشِ الْحِسَابِ؛ وَهُوَ مَصْدَرٌ مِنْهُ.
Allah will gather the first and the last for the scrutiny of the account; and it is a masdar from it.
وَأَصْلُ الْمُنَاقَشَةِ مِنْ نَقْشِ الشَّوْكَةِ إِذَا اسْتَخْرَجَهَا مِنْ جِسْمِهِ، وَقَدْ نَقَشَهَا وَانْتَقَشَهَا.

أَبُو عُبَيْدٍ: الْمُنَاقَشَةُ الِاسْتِقْصَاءُ فِي الْحِسَابِ حَتَّى لَا يُتْرَكَ مِنْهُ شَيْءٌ.
Abu Ubaid: Al-munāqashah is the exhaustive investigation in accounting until nothing is left of it.
وَانْتَقَشَ مِنْهُ جَمِيعَ حَقِّهِ وَتَنَقَّشَهُ: أَخَذَهُ فَلَمْ يَدَعْ مِنْهُ شَيْئًا.

وَلَا أَحْسَبُ نَقْشَ الشَّوْكَةِ مِنَ الرَّجُلِ إِلَّا مِنْ هَذَا، وَهُوَ اسْتِخْرَاجُهَا حَتَّى لَا يُتْرَكَ مِنْهَا شَيْءٌ فِي الْجَسَدِ.
And I do not think the extraction of a thorn from a person is other than from this, and it is its extraction until nothing is left of it in the body.
لَا تَنْقُشَنَّ بِرِجْلِ غَيْرِكَ شَوْكَةً، فَتُقِيَ بِرِجْلِكَ رِجْلَ مَنْ قَدْ شَاكَهَا.
Do not extract a thorn with another's foot, lest you press with your foot the foot of one who has been pricked by it.
وَالْاِنْتِقَاشُ: أَنْ تَنْتَقِشَ عَلَى فَصِّكَ أَيْ تَسْأَلَ النَّقَّاشَ أَنْ يَنْقُشَ عَلَى فَصِّكَ.
And al-intiqāsh: is that you have something engraved on your seal, meaning you ask the engraver to engrave on your seal.
وَمَا اِنْتَقَشْتُكَ إِلَّا لِلْوُصْرَاتِ.
And I did not choose you except for the escort.
وَانْتَقَشَ الشَّيْءَ: اخْتَارَهُ.
And to select a thing: to choose it.
وَإِنَّمَا سُمِّيَ الْمِنْقَاشُ مِنْقَاشًا لِأَنَّهُ يُنْقَشُ بِهِ أَيْ يُسْتَخْرَجُ بِهِ الشَّوْكُ.
And the minqash is only called a minqash because it is used to engrave with, meaning thorns are extracted with it.
وَانْقِشُوا لَهُ عِطْنَهُ.
And clean out its resting place for it.
وَالْمَنْقُوشُ مِنَ الْبُسْرِ: الَّذِي يُطْعَنُ فِيهِ بِالشَّوْكِ لِيَنْضَجَ وَيَرْطُبَ.

وَمَا نَقَشَ مِنْهُ شَيْئًا أَيْ مَا أَصَابَ، وَالْمَعْرُوفُ مَا نَتَشَ.
And he did not get anything from it, meaning he did not achieve it; and what is known is 'natasha' (he got).
وَانْتَقَشَ الْبَعِيرُ إِذَا ضَرَبَ بِيَدِهِ الْأَرْضَ لِشَيْءٍ يَدْخُلُ فِي رِجْلِهِ.
And the camel stamped if it struck the ground with its foot because of something entering its leg.
وَمِنْهُ قِيلَ: لَطَمَهُ لَطْمَ الْمُنْتَقِشِ.
And from this it is said: He slapped him with the slap of the one who stamps his foot.
