وفايشه مفايشة وفياشا: فاخره.

And Fayashahu Fayashatan wa Fayashan: he boasted to him.

ورجل فياش: مفايش.

وجاؤوا يتفايشون أي يتفاخرون ويتكاثرون، وقد فايشتم فياشا.

ويقال: فاش يفيش وفش يفش بمعنى كما يقال ذام يذيم وذم يذم.

Jarir said: Do they boast, when they have seen their worn-out sandals... bitten by it, so the bravest passed judgment on it?

والفيش: النفخ يري الرجل أن عنده شيئا وليس على ما يري.

And Al-fish: the puffing up that makes a man think he has something when he does not have what he appears to have.

وفلان صاحب فياش ومفايشة، وفلان فياش إذا كان نفاخا بالباطل وليس عنده طائل.

And so-and-so is a companion of boasting and mutual boasting, and so-and-so is Fayyash if he is a boaster in vain and has no substance.

والفياش: الطرمذة.

And Al-Fayyash: the pretense.

وذو فائش: ملك؛

And Dhu Fayish: a king;

قال الأعشى: تؤم سلامة ذا فائش، ... هو اليوم جم لميعادها
