And ar-ra'shā' from ostriches: the tall one, and it is said: the swift one, and a male ostrich is ra'shu likewise, and it is on the pattern of fa'al instead of af'al, they differed in the masculine form from the feminine form, and many are like this, and likewise the female camel ar-ra'shā', and the camel ar'ash, which is ar-ra'shanu and ar-ra'shanah; and he recited:
من كل رعشاء وناج رعشن
From every swift female ostrich and a swift male camel.
وتسمى الدابة رعشاء لانتفاضها من شهامتها ونشاطها.
And the animal is called ra'shā' because of its shaking from its vigor and liveliness.
ويقال: الرعشن بناء رباعي على حدة.
And it is said: Ar-ra'shanu is a quadriliteral form on its own.
وفلاناً رعش إلى القتال أي سريع إليه.
And so-and-so is ra'shu towards fighting, meaning quick to it.
ويرعش: ملك من ملوك حمير كان به ارتعاش فسمي بذلك.
And Yar'ashu: a king of Ḥimyar who had a tremor, so he was named that.
