Al-khafsh can be a condition, which is one who sees something at night but does not see it during the day.

والخفاش: طائر يطير بالليل مشتق من ذلك لأنه يشق عليه ضوء النهار

إذا صغر مقدم سنام البعير وانضم فلم يطل فذلك الخفش
If the front of a camel's hump becomes small and contracted, not elongated, that is al-khafsh.
