Do you not know that we are bashsh when your people approach us with tents and settlements?
يقال: فلان مضيء البشيش
It is said: So-and-so has a radiant face.
والبشيش كالبشاشة
And al-bashish is like al-bashasha.
يقال لقيته فتبشبش بي
It is said: I met him and he welcomed me warmly.
وأصله تبشش فأبدلوا من الشين الوسطى باء كما قالوا تجفف
And its origin is tabashshasha, so they replaced the middle shin with a ba, as they said tajaffafa.
لا يوطن الرجل المساجد للصلاة والذكر إلا تبشبش الله به
A man does not frequent mosques for prayer and remembrance except that Allah welcomes him warmly.
كما يتبشبش أهل البيت بغائبهم إذا قدم عليهم
As the people of a household welcome back their absent one when he arrives.
البش فرح الصديق بالصديق واللطف في المسألة والإقبال عليه
Al-bashsh is the joy of a friend towards a friend, and kindness in asking and approaching him.
والتبشبش في الأصل: التبشش فاستثقل الجمع بين ثلاث شينات فلقلب إحداهن باء
And al-tabashbush in origin is al-tabashshash, so they found the combination of three shins heavy and thus changed one of them to a ba.
