And al-mee'aas is like al-wa's; Al-Layth said: the place that has sand from al-wa's, which is sand where the hooves sink.
وَرَمْلٌ أَوْعَسُ، وَهُوَ أَعْظَمُ مِنَ الْوَعْسَاءِ
And it is sandy ground, and it is larger than al-wa'saa'.
أَلْبَسْنَ دِعْصًا بَيْنَ ظَهْرَيْ أَوْعَسَا
They were clothed with a dune between the backs of soft sandy ground.
حَيَّ الْهُدْمَلَةَ مِنْ ذَاتِ الْمَوَاعِيسِ
Greet the Hudalmah from the place of soft sandy ground.

How many nights have we chosen to reach you, and the deserts have made the necks of the swift camels extend.
وَأَوْعَسْنَ بِالْأَعْنَاقِ إِذَا مَدَدْنَ الْأَعْنَاقَ فِي سِعَةِ الْخَطْوِ
And they extended their necks when they stretched their necks in wide strides.
وَالْمُوَاعَسَةُ: الْمُبَارَاةُ فِي السَّيْرِ، وَهِيَ الْمُوَاضَخَةُ، وَلَا تَكُونُ الْمُوَاعَسَةُ إِلَّا بِاللَّيْلِ
And al-muwa'asah: competition in travel, and it is al-muwadakhah, and al-muwa'asah only occurs at night.
وَأَوْعَسْنَا: أَدْلَجْنَا
And we traveled by night: we set out in the early part of the night.
وَالْوَعْسُ: شَدَّةُ الْوَطْءِ عَلَى الْأَرْضِ
And al-wa's: the intensity of treading on the ground.
وَالْمَوْعُوسُ: كَالْمَدْعُوسِ
And al-maw'oos: like al-mad'oos (heavily trodden).
وَالْوَعْسُ: شَجَرٌ تُعْمَلُ مِنْهُ الْعِيدَانُ الَّتِي يُضْرَبُ بِهَا
And al-wa's: a tree from which the sticks used for striking are made.
رَهَاوِيَةٌ مِنْزَعٌ دَفَّهَا، تَرْجِعُ فِي عُودِ وَعْسٍ مَرِنٍ
A swift one, its handle pulled, returns on a flexible wa's stick.
