Al-waras is not wild; it is cultivated for a year and stays for ten years, meaning it remains in the ground and is not idle. Its plant is like sesame. When it dries upon ripening, its pods burst and are shaken, and al-waras is shaken from it. Some trusted narrators claimed it is said 'murs'; it has appeared in the poetry of Ibn Hirmah, who said: 'As if their armpits were dyed with a murs acid, ... from the owner of horned deer.'
ورس النبت وروسا اخضر؛ وأنشد: في وارس من النخيل قد ذفر ذفر، كثر.
