Taqaddasa means to purify oneself.

ونحن نسبح بحمدك ونقدس لك

And we exalt [You] with Your praise and sanctify ourselves for You.

معنى نقدس لك أي نطهر أنفسنا لك، وكذلك نفعل بمن أطاعك نقدسه أي نطهره.

The meaning of 'nuqaddisu lak' is that we purify ourselves for You, and likewise, we do to those who obey You, we sanctify them, meaning we purify them.

ومن هذا قيل للسطل القدس لأنه يتقدس منه أي يتطهر.

And from this, the bucket is called Al-Qudus because one purifies oneself from it, meaning one cleanses oneself.

والقدس، بالتحريك: السطل بلغة أهل الحجاز لأنه يتطهر فيه.

And Al-Quds, with harakah: The bucket in the language of the people of Hijaz because one purifies oneself in it.

قال: ومن هذا بيت المقدس أي البيت المطهر أي المكان الذي يتطهر به من الذنوب.

He said: And from this is Bayt al-Maqdis, meaning the purified house, meaning the place where one purifies oneself from sins.

وقوله تعالى: الملك القدوس* الطاهر في صفة الله عز وجل

And His saying, the Almighty: The Sovereign, the Holy*, the Pure in description of God Almighty.

ويقال للراهب مقدس، وأراد في هذا البيت بالمقدسي الراهب

And the monk is called Muqaddas, and he intended in this verse by Al-Muqaddasi the monk.

والمقدس: الحبر؛ وحكى ابن الأعرابي: لا قدسه الله أي لا بارك عليه.

And Al-Muqaddas: The ink; and Ibn Al-A'rabi narrated: May God not bless him, meaning may God not bestow blessing upon him.

والقادس والقداس: حصاة توضع في الماء قدرا لري الإبل، وهي نحو المقلة للإنسان

And Al-Qadis and Al-Qaddas: A pebble placed in the water for watering camels, and it is like the pupil for a person.

والقداس، بالضم: شيء يعمل كالجمان من فضة؛ قال يصف الدموع: تحدر دمع العين منها، فخلته ... كنظم قداس، سلكه. متقطع شبه تحدر دمعه بنظم القداس إذا انقطع سلكه.
