كما يقال أقهر الرجل صار إلى حال يقهر عليها، وأذل الرجل صار إلى حال يذل فيها
As it is said: the man became overpowered if he reached a state where he is overpowered, and the man became humiliated if he reached a state where he is humiliated.
وقد فلسه الحاكم تفليسا: نادى عليه أنه أفلس
And the judge declared him bankrupt, a declaration of bankruptcy: he announced about him that he was bankrupt.
وشيء مفلس اللون إذا كان على جلده لمع كالفلوس
And something of a 'mufallas' color if it has a shine on its skin like coins.
وقال أبو عمرو: أفلست الرجل إذا طلبته فأخطأت موضعه، وذلك الفلس والإفلاس
And Abu Amr said: I missed the man if I sought him and missed his location, and that is al-fals and al-iflas.
يا حب، ما حب القبول، وحبها ... فلس، فلا ينصبك حب مفلس
Oh love, what a love of acceptance, and her love... is a fals (worthless), so let the love of a bankrupt not set you up.
قال أبو عمرو في قوله وحبها فلس أي لا نيل معه
Abu Amr said about his saying 'and her love is fals' meaning there is no attainment with it.
