وقوله فوق عوج يريد قوائمها.

والذوابل: القليلة اللحم الصلبة.

والمنخل: الرمل الذي نخلته الرياح

عنى بالطرفسان الطنفسة وبالمنخل المتخير.
He meant by Al-Tarafsan a rug and by Al-Mankhal the chosen one.
الطرفساء الظلماء ليست من الغيم في شيء ولا تكون ظلماء إلا بغيم.
Al-Tarafsā' is darkness, not from clouds in any way, and darkness only occurs with clouds.
ويقال: السماء مطرفسة ومطنفسة إذا استغمدت في السحاب الكثير
And it is said: The sky is 'mutarrafisa' and 'mutanafisa' if it is enveloped in abundant clouds.
وكذلك الإنسان إذا لبس الثياب الكثيرة مطرفس ومطنفس.
And likewise a person if he wears many clothes is 'mutarrafis' and 'mutanafis'.
وطرفس الرجل إذا حدد النظر
And a man 'taraffasa' if he stares intently.
وروى أبو عمرو وطرفش، بالشين المعجمة، إذا نظر وكسر عينيه.
And Abu Amr narrated 'tarfasha', with the unpointed sheen, meaning to look while narrowing his eyes.
