التَّحْمِيجُ: التَّحْدِيقُ في النَّظَرِ بِمِلْءِ الحَدَقَةِ، والتَّشَاوُسُ إظْهارُ ذَلِكَ مَعَ ما يَجِيءُ عَلَيْهِ عامَّةُ هذا البابِ.
Al-tahmiiju: is staring with the full pupil, and al-tashawusu is showing that along with what generally comes in this chapter.
ويُقالُ: فُلانٌ يَتَشَاوَسُ في نَظَرِهِ إذا نَظَرَ نَظَرَ ذِي نَخْوَةٍ وكِبْرٍ.
And it is said: So-and-so exhibits tashawusu in his gaze when he looks with the look of someone full of pride and arrogance.
يُقالُ: تَشَاوَسَ إلَيْهِ وهُوَ أنْ يَنْظُرَ إلَيْهِ بِمُؤَخِّرِ عَيْنِهِ ويُمِيلَ وَجْهَهُ في شِقِّ العَيْنِ التي يَنْظُرُ بِها.
It is said: Tashawasa to him, which is to look at him with the corner of his eye and tilt his face towards the side of the eye he is looking with.
رُبَّما رَأيْتُ أبا عُثْمانَ النَّهْدِيَّ يَتَشَاوَسُ يَنْظُرُ أأَزَالَتِ الشَّمْسُ أمْ لا.

التَّشَاوُسُ: أنْ يُقَلِّبَ رَأْسَهُ يَنْظُرُ إلى السَّماءِ بإحْدَى عَيْنَيْهِ.

يُقالُ رَجُلٌ أشْوَسُ وذلك إذا عُرِفَ في نَظَرِهِ الغَضَبُ أو الحِقْدُ.
It is said a man is ashwasu, and that is when anger or malice is recognized in his gaze.
الأشْوَسُ والأشْوَزُ المَذِيخُ المُتَكَبِّرُ.
Al-ashwasu and al-ashwazu are the proud, arrogant ones.
ماءٌ مُشَاوِسٌ إذا قَلَّ فَلَمْ تُكَادْ تَرَاهُ في الرَّكِيَّةِ مِنْ قِلَّتِهِ أو كانَ بَعِيدَ الغَوْرِ.
Maa'un mushawisun if it is scarce, so you can hardly see it in the well due to its scarcity or it being deep.
الأشْوَسُ: الجَرِيءُ على القِتالِ الشَّديدِ.
