And the female is also ja'sūs; Ya'qub narrated this, and they are al-ja'āsīs.
ورجل دعبوب وجعبوب وجعسوس إذا كان قصيرا دميما.
And a man is da'būb, ju'būb, and ja'sūs if he is short and unattractive.
فقال له أهل مكة: ما أتاك به ابن عمك؟ قال: سألني أن أخلي مكة لجعاسيس يثرب
So the people of Mecca said to him: What has your cousin brought you? He said: He asked me to leave Mecca for the ignoble ones of Yathrib.
الجعاسيس: اللئام في الخلق والخلق، الواحد جعسوس، بالضم.
Al-ja'āsīs: the ignoble in creation and character, the singular is ja'sūs, with a damma.
أتخوفنا بجعاسيس يثرب؟
Do you fear us with the ignoble ones of Yathrib?
وقال أعرابي لامرأته: إنك لجعسوس صهصلق
And an Arab of the desert said to his wife: Indeed, you are a base, loud-mouthed woman.
فقالت: والله إنك لهلباجة نؤوم، خرق سؤوم، شربك اشتفاف، وأكلك اقتحاف، ونومك التحاف، عليك العفا، وقبح منك القفا
And she replied: By God, you are indeed a gluttonous sleeper, a clumsy, snoring one, your drinking is gulping, your eating is devouring, your sleeping is enveloping, may you be covered in dust, and may your nape be ugly.
جعسوس وجعشوش، بالسين والشين، وذلك إلى قمأة وصغر وقلة.
Ja'sūs and ja'shūsh, with a sin and a shin, and that refers to shortness, smallness, and insignificance.
يقال: هو من جعاسيس الناس، قال: ولا يقال بالشين؛
It is said: He is among the ignoble people; he said: And it is not said with the shin.
أسلمه جعاسيس الرباب
The ignoble ones of Rabāb abandoned him.
والجعس: الرجيع، وهو مولد، والعرب تقول: الجعموس، بزيادة الميم.
And al-ja's: excrement, and it is a neologism; the Arabs say: al-ju'mūs, with the addition of the mim.
يقال: رمى بجعاميس بطنه.
It is said: He vomited the contents of his stomach.
