And it is said: al-'unuqiz are the gerbils of the donkey.
والعنقز: أصل القصب الغض، وهو بالراء أعلى
And al-'unuqiz: the base of the young reed, and it is higher with the letter 'r'.
وكذلك حكاه كراع بالراء أيضا
And Kara' narrated it similarly with the letter 'r' as well.
وفي حديث قس ذكر العنقزان؛ العنقز أصل القصب الغض.
And in the hadith of Qass, al-'unuqazān was mentioned; al-'unuqiz is the base of the young reed.
والعنقز أبناء الدهاقين
And al-'unuqiz are the sons of the dehqans.
وقيل: العنقز السم
