النعرة والنعرة: الخيشوم، ومنها ينعر الناعر.

والنعرة: صوت في الخيشوم؛

ونعر الرجل ينعر وينعر نعيرا ونعارا: صاح وصوت بخيشومه، وهو من الصوت.

الناعر المصوت والناعر العرق الذي يسيل دما.

ونعر عرقه ينعر نعورا ونعيرا، فهو نعار ونعور: صوت لخروج الدم؛

ونعر العرق ينعر، بالفتح فيهما، نعرا أي فار منه الدم؛

صارت نظرة لو صادفت جوز دارع ... غدا، والعواصي من دم الجوف تنعر

ورأيت نيران الحروب تسعر ... منهم إذا ما لبس السنور، ضرب دراك وطعان ينعر

ونعر الجرح ينعر: ارتفع دمه.

ونعر العرق بالدم، وهو عرق نعار بالدم: ارتفع دمه.

جرح تعار، بالعين والتاء، وتغار، بالغين والتاء، ونعار، بالعين والنون، بمعنى واحد، وهو الذي لا يرقأ

والنعرة: ذباب أزرق يدخل في أنوف الحمير والخيل، والجمع نعر.

ونعر الفرس والحمار ينعر نعرا، فهو نعر: دخلت النعرة في أنفه؛

فظل يرنح في غيطل، ... كما يستدير الحمار النعر
So he kept staggering in the thicket, ... like the agitated donkey turns around.
والنعرة ذبابة ضخم أزرق العين أخضر له إبرة في طرف ذنبه يلسع بها ذوات الحافر خاصة، وربما دخل في أنف الحمار فيركب رأسه ولا يرده شيء، تقول منه: نعر الحمار، بالكسر، ينعر نعرا، فهو حمار نعر، وأتان نعرة، ورجل نعر: لا يستقر في مكان، وهو منه.
And the fly is a large blue-eyed, green fly with a needle at the tip of its tail with which it stings hoofed animals especially, and sometimes it enters the nose of a donkey and takes over its head and nothing can repel it, you say from it: the donkey was agitated, with kasr, it is agitated with agitation, so it is an agitated donkey, and a female donkey that is agitated, and a man who is agitated: he does not stay in one place, and it is from him.
ترى النعرات الخضر حول لبانه، ... أحاد ومثنى، أصعقتها صواهله
You see the green flies around its chest, ... alone and in pairs, its neighing killed them.
ونعر في البلاد أي ذهب.
And he went about in the land, meaning he went.
وإن في رأسه نعرة أي كبرا.
And that in his head is arrogance, meaning conceit.
وإن في رأسه نعرة، بالفتح، أي أمرا يهم به.
And that in his head is a matter of concern, with fatha, meaning a matter he is preoccupied with.
لأطيرن نعرتك أي كبرك وجهلك من رأسك، والأصل فيه أن الحمار إذا نعر ركب رأسه، فيقال لكل من ركب رأسه: فيه نعرة.
I will surely remove your arrogance, meaning your conceit and ignorance from your head, and the origin of this is that when a donkey makes a sound, it takes over its head, so it is said of anyone whose head is taken over: he has arrogance.
لا أقلع عنه حتى أطير نعرته، وروي: حتى أنزع النعرة التي في أنفه
I will not cease from him until I remove his arrogance, and it was narrated: until I remove the fly that is in his nose.
إذا رأيت نعرة الناس ولا تستطيع أن تغيرها فدعها حتى يكون الله يغيرها
If you see the arrogance of people and you cannot change it, then leave it until God changes it.
والنعرة والنعر: ما أجنت حمر الوحش في أرحامها قبل أن يتم خلقه، شبه بالذباب.
And the fetus and the embryo: what wild donkeys conceive in their wombs before their creation is complete, likened to flies.
والشدنيات يساقطن النعر «1» يريد الأجنة؛ شبهها بذلك الذباب.
And the strong she-camels drop the fetuses, meaning the embryos; he likened them to those flies.
وما حملت المرأة نعرة قط أي ملقوحا؛ هذا قول أبي عبيد، والملقوح إنما هو لغير الإنسان.
And the woman never carried a fetus, meaning a conception; this is the saying of Abu Ubaid, and conception is only for non-humans.
وما حملت المرأة نعرة قط، بالفتح، أي ما حملت ملقوحا أي ولدا.
And the woman never carried a fetus, with fatha, meaning she never carried a conception, meaning a child.
والنعر ريح تأخذ في الأنف فتهزه.
And the wind is a wind that takes hold of the nose and shakes it.
والنعور من الرياح: ما فاجأك ببرد وأنت في حر، أو بحر وأنت في برد؛ عن أبي علي في التذكرة.
And the sudden wind from the winds: what surprises you with cold while you are in heat, or with heat while you are in cold; according to Abu Ali in the Tadhkirah.
ونعرت الريح إذا هبت مع صوت، ورياح نواعر وقد نعرت نعارا.
And the wind blew strongly when it blew with a sound, and the winds are strong-blowing, and it blew strongly with a strong blowing.
والنعرة من النوء إذا اشتد به هبوب الريح؛ ومنه قوله: عمل الأنامل ساقط أرواقه ... متزحر، نعرت به الجوزاء
And the star's wind is from the star when the blowing of the wind intensifies with it; and from this is his saying: The work of the fingertips, its leaves fall... panting, Gemini made it blow strongly.
والناعورة: الدولاب.

وفي رأسه نعرة ونعرة أي أمر يهم به.

ونيهة نعور: بعيدة؛
And a distant intention: far away;
وكنت إذا لم يصرني الهوى ... ولا حبها، كان همي نعورا
And I was, if desire did not move me... nor her love, my concern was distant.
وفلان نعير الهم أي بعيده.
And so-and-so is distant in his concerns, meaning far away.
وهمة نعور: بعيدة.
And a distant goal: far away.
والنعور من الحاجات: البعيدة.
And the distant from needs: the far away.
ويقال: سفر نعور إذا كان بعيدا؛ ومنه قول طرفة: ومثلي، فاعلمي يا أم عمرو، ... إذا ما اعتاده سفر نعور
And it is said: a distant journey if it is far; and from this is the saying of Tarafah: And one like me, know, O Umm Amr, ... when a distant journey becomes habitual for him.
ورجل نعار في الفتن: خراج فيها سعاء، لا يراد به الصوت وإنما تعنى به الحركة.
And a man active in conflicts: emerging in them with eagerness, not meaning sound but rather movement.
والنعار أيضا: العاصي؛ عن ابن الأعرابي.
And the disobedient also: the rebellious; according to Ibn Al-A'rabi.
ونعر القوم: هاجوا واجتمعوا في الحرب.
And the people stirred up: they became agitated and gathered for war.
ما كانت فتنة إلا نعر فيها فلان أي نهض فيها.
There was no sedition but so-and-so stirred up in it, meaning he rose up in it.
وكلما نعر بهم ناعر اتبعوه أي ناهض يدعوهم إلى الفتنة ويصيح بهم إليها.
And whenever a stirrer-up incited them, they followed him, meaning a challenger calling them to sedition and shouting to them towards it.
ونعر الرجل: خالف وأبى؛ وأنشد ابن الأعرابي للمخبل السعدي: إذا ما هم أصلحوا أمرهم، ... نعرت كما ينعر الأخدع
And the man refused: he opposed and refused; and Ibn Al-A'rabi recited for Al-Mukhbil Al-Sa'di: When they set their affairs right, ... you refused as the jugular vein swells.
يعني أنه يفسد على قومه أمرهم، ونعرة النجم: هبوب الريح واشتداد الحر عند طلوعه فإذا غرب سكن.
Meaning he corrupts his people's affairs, and the star's wind is the blowing of the wind and the intensification of heat upon its rising, and when it sets, it calms.
ومن أين نعرت إلينا أي أتيتنا وأقبلت إلينا؛ عن ابن الأعرابي.
And from where did you come to us, meaning you came to us and approached us; according to Ibn Al-A'rabi.
نعر إليهم طرأ عليهم.
He appeared to them, meaning he arrived upon them.
والتنعير: إدارة السهم على الظفر ليعرف قوامه من عوجه، وهكذا يفعل من أراد اختبار النبل، والذي حكاه صاحب العين في هذا إنما هو التنفيز.
And testing an arrow: rolling the arrow on the fingernail to know its straightness from its crookedness, and thus does one who wants to test the arrow do, and what the author of Al-'Ayn narrated regarding this is merely 'al-tanfiz'.
والنعر: أول ما يثمر الأراك، وقد أنعر أي أثمر، وذلك إذا صار ثمرة بمقدار النعرة.
And the early fruit: the first of the Arak tree's fruit, and it has borne fruit, meaning it has fruited, and that is when the fruit becomes the size of a 'n'arah'.
بنو النعير: بطن من العرب.
Banu Al-Nu'ayr: a clan of the Arabs.
