It is said: 'akara and i'takara mean one thing, and 'akartu 'alayhi if you attacked, and 'akara, yakurru, 'akran: to turn aside.
وفي الحديث: أن رجلا فجر بامرأة عكورة أي عكر عليها فتسنمها وغلبها على نفسها.
And in the Hadith: A man committed adultery with a woman 'akurah, meaning he 'akara upon her, overpowering her and dominating her person.
ثم عكر على الأخرى فنزعها فسقطت ثنيته الأخرى، يعني الزردتين اللتين نشبتا في وجه رسول الله، صلى الله عليه وسلم.
Then he 'akara upon the other and pulled it out, and his other incisor fell out, meaning the two rings of mail that were stuck in the face of the Messenger of God, peace be upon him.
وتعاكر القوم: اختلطوا.
And the people ta'akarru: they mixed.
واعتكروا في الحرب: اختلطوا.
And they i'takaru in war: they mixed.
واعتكر العسكر: رجع بعضه على بعض فلم يقدر على عده؛

Then they returned to their 'akr, the 'akr of evil, meaning the origin of their bad doctrine and their evil deeds.
ومن المثل: عادت لعكرها لميس؛ وقيل: العكر العادة والديدن؛
And from the proverb: Lamis returned to her 'akr; and it was said: Al-'akr is the habit and the custom.
وروي عكرهم، بفتحتين، ذهابا إلى الدنس والدرن، من عكر الزيت، والأول الوجه.
And it was narrated 'akarahum, with two fattahs, referring to filth and grime, from the 'akr of oil, and the first is the preferred interpretation.
