It is said: I obtained something from so-and-so if I got it from him.
أعطيت فلانا عطية فاعتصرتها أي رجعت فيها
I gave so-and-so a gift, and I reclaimed it, meaning I went back on it.
ندمت على شيء مضى فاعتصرته
I regretted something that passed, so I reclaimed it.
فأما الذي يمنع فإنما يقال له تعصر أي تعسر

فيه يغاث الناس وفيه يعصرون : إنه من هذا، أي ينجون من البلاء ويعتصمون بالخصب
In it people are given rain, and in it they are 'yu'aṣṣarūn': it means they are saved from affliction and take refuge in abundance.
والاعتصار: الالتجاء
And al-i'tiṣār: seeking refuge.
لو بغير الماء حلقي شرق، ... كنت كالغصان بالماء اعتصاري
If my throat were to choke without water, ... I would be like branches seeking water.
والاعتصار: أن يغص الإنسان بالطعام فيعتصر بالماء، وهو أن يشربه قليلا قليلا
And al-i'tiṣār: is for a person to choke on food and then take water, which is to drink it little by little.
عصر الزرع: نبتت أكمام سنبله، كأنه مأخوذ من العصر الذي هو الملجأ والحرز
The grain 'aṣara: its ears sprouted, as if taken from 'aṣr, which is refuge and protection.
والعصار: الملك الملجأ
And al-'aṣṣār: the king who is a refuge.

And al-mu'taṣar: age and old age.
أدركت معتصري وأدركني ... حلمي، ويسر قائدي نعلي
I reached my age and my patience reached me... and my guide made my sandals easy.

والعصرة: الدنية، وهم موالينا عصرة أي دنية دون من سواهم

And al-ma'ṣūr: the tongue dry from thirst.

The days when the year of 'al-ma'āṣīr' afflicted me.

Your father changed his color... through the passing of nights and the changes of the ages.
لو عصر منه البان والمسك انعصر يريد عصر، فخفف
If sandalwood and musk were pressed from it, they would be extracted; he means 'aṣara, so he lightened it.
سلك رسول الله، صلى الله عليه وسلم، في مسيره إليها على عصر
