Al-Muṣawwir, and He is the One who formed all existing things and arranged them, giving each thing among them a specific form and a unique appearance by which it is distinguished, despite their variety and abundance.

Allah created Adam in His image.

فإذا كانت عائدة على اسم الله تعالى فمعناه على الصورة التي أنشأها الله وقدرها

And if it refers back to the name of Allah, then its meaning is 'in the form that Allah created and decreed'.

Hearts that are not inclined by wombs, meaning not drawn to them, will turn to them with knowledge.

وما بي إليها صورة أي ميل وشهوة تصورني إليها

And I have no inclination towards her, meaning desire that inclines me towards her.

وصار الشيء صورا وأصاره فانصار: أماله فمال

لظلت الشهب منها وهي تنصار أي تصدع وتفلق

And the other hadith: that he went to a woman from the Ansar, and she spread out for him palm fronds and slaughtered a sheep for him.

فأحرقا صورا من صيران العريض

And they burned a cluster of palm trees from the palm groves of al-ʿArīḍ.

والصوار والصوار القطيع من البقر

And al-ṣiwār and al-ṣiwār is the herd of cows.

فإذا نفخ في الصور*

وأنكروا أن يكون الصور قرنا كما أنكروا العرش والميزان والصراط وادعوا أن الصور جمع الصورة

And they denied that al-ṣūr is a horn, just as they denied the Throne, the Balance, and the Path, and they claimed that al-ṣūr is the plural of ṣūrah.

لأن الله عز وجل قال: وصوركم فأحسن صوركم*

Because Allah, the Almighty, said: 'And He formed you and perfected your forms*'

وكذلك قال: ونفخ في الصور*

And likewise He said: 'And the Horn will be blown*'

فمن قرأ: ونفخ في الصور، أو قرأ: فأحسن صوركم، فقد افترى الكذب وبدل كتاب الله

And whoever recites: 'And the Horn will be blown', or recites: 'And He perfected your forms', has fabricated a lie and altered the Book of Allah.

فإذا نفخ في الصور*

And when the Horn is blown*

أي ينفخ في صور الموتى الأرواح
