والمصقر من الرطب: المصلب يصب عليه الدبس ليلين، وربما جاء بالسين، لأنهم كثيرا ما يقلبون الصاد سينا إذا كان في الكلمة قاف أو طاء أو عين أو خاء مثل الصدع والصماخ والصراط والبصاق.

And al-miṣqar from ripe dates: the hardened ones on which molasses is poured to soften them, and it sometimes comes with a sin, because they often change the ṣād to a sin when there is a qāf, ṭā', 'ayn, or khā' in the word, like al-ṣada' and al-ṣimākh and al-ṣirāṭ and al-buṣāq.

والصقر، عند البحرانيين، ما سال من جلال التمر التي كنزت وسدك بعضها فوق بعض في بيت مصرج تحتها خواب خضر، فينعصر منها دبس خام كأنه العسل، وربما أخذوا الرطب الجيد ملقوطا من العذق فجعلوه في بساتيق وصبوا عليه من ذلك الصقر، فيقال له رطب مصقر، ويبقى رطبا طيبا طول السنة

And the ṣaqr, among the Bahrainis, is what flows from the pressed dates that were stored, piled one on top of another in a ventilated room with green jars beneath them, from which raw molasses like honey is extracted, and sometimes they take good ripe dates picked from the cluster and put them in baskets and pour that ṣaqr on them, and it is called muṣqar dates, and it remains good and ripe throughout the year.

التصقير أن يصب على الرطب الدبس فيقال رطب مصقر، مأخوذ من الصقر، وهو الدبس.

Al-taṣqīr is pouring molasses on ripe dates, and it is called muṣqar dates, derived from ṣaqr, which is molasses.

ليس الصقر في رؤوس النخل.

The ṣaqr is not in the tops of the date palms.

هو عسل الرطب هاهنا، وهو الدبس، وهو في غير هذا اللبن الحامض.

ملعون كل صقار

Cursed is every ṣaqqār.

نشء يكونون في آخر الزمن تحيتهم بينهم إذا تلاقوا التلاعن.

A generation that will be in the end of time, their greeting among them when they meet is mutual cursing.

ويظهر فيهم السقارون، قالوا: وما السقارون يا رسول الله؟ قال: نشأ يكونون في آخر الزمان تكون تحيتهم بينهم إذا تلاقوا التلاعن ، وروي بالسين وبالصاد، وفسره بالنمام.

And the siqqārūn (or ṣaqqārūn) will appear among them. They said: And what are the siqqārūn, O Messenger of Allah? He said: A generation that will be in the end of time, their greeting among them when they meet is mutual cursing. It was narrated with a sin and with a ṣād, and it was interpreted as the slanderer.

ويجوز أن يكون أراد به ذا الكبر والأبهة بأنه يميل بخده.

And it is possible that he meant by it one of arrogance and grandeur, as he tilts his cheek.

الصقران دائرتان من الشعر عند مؤخر اللبد من ظهر الفرس، قال: وحد الظهر إلى الصقرين.

Al-ṣaqrān are two circles of hair at the back of the mane on the horse's back, he said: And the back extends to the ṣaqrān.

جاء فلان بالصقر والبقر والصقارى والبقارى إذا جاء بالكذب الفاحش.

So-and-so came with al-ṣaqr, al-baqr, al-ṣaqārā, and al-baqārā if he came with gross falsehoods.

تصقرت بموضع كذا وتشكلت وتنكفت. بمعنى تلبثت.

والصقار: الكافر.

والصقار: الدباس، وقيل: السقار الكافر، بالسين.

والصقر: القيادة على الحرم؛ عن ابن الأعرابي؛ ومنه الصقار الذي جاء في الحديث.

And the ṣaqr: pimping on women; from Ibn al-A'rābī; and from it is the ṣaqqār mentioned in the Hadith.

والصقور: الديوث، وفي الحديث: لا يقبل الله من الصقور يوم القيامة صرفا ولا عدلا ؛ قال ابن الأثير: هو بمعنى الصقار، وقيل: هو الديوث القواد على حرمه.

And al-ṣuqūr: the cuckold, and in the Hadith: Allah will not accept from the ṣuqūr on the Day of Resurrection any obligatory or voluntary deed; Ibn al-Athīr said: it means the ṣaqqār, and it was said: it is the cuckold who procures for his women.

وصقر: من أسماء جهنم، نعوذ بالله منها، لغة في سقر.

And Saqar: from the names of Hell, may Allah protect us from it, a variant of Saqar.

والصوقرير: صوت طائر يرجع فتسمع فيه نحو هذه النغمة.

And the ṣawqurīr: the sound of a bird that echoes, and you hear a sound like this in it.

والصوقرير حكاية صوت طائر يصوقر في صياحه يسمع في صوته نحو هذه النغمة.

And al-ṣawqurīr is the imitation of a bird's sound that makes a ṣawqurīr sound in its cry, and you hear a sound like this in its voice.
