كنا قوما نسمى السماسرة بالمدينة في عهد رسول الله، صلى الله عليه وسلم، فسمانا النبي، صلى الله عليه وسلم، التجار
We were a people called simsarah in Medina during the time of the Messenger of God, peace be upon him, so the Prophet, peace be upon him, named us 'merchants'.
وقيل: السمسار القيم بالأمر الحافظ له
And it was said: The simsar is the one in charge of the affair, its preserver.
وهو في البيع اسم للذي يدخل بين البائع والمشتري متوسطا لإمضاء البيع.
