If it purred, gave milk, and stretched out, it is hers; if it fled and became fierce, it is not hers;
معنى اسبطرت امتدت واستقامت لها، قال ابن الأثير: أي امتدت للإرضاع ومالت إليه.
The meaning of isbaṭarrat is stretched out and became straight for it. Ibn al-Athir said: meaning it stretched out for nursing and inclined towards it.
واسبطرت الذبيحة إذا امتدت للموت بعد الذبح.
And the slaughtered animal isbaṭarrat when it stretches out for death after slaughter.
وفي حديث عطاء: سئل عن رجل أخذ من الذبيحة شيئا قبل أن تسبطر فقال: ما أخذت منها فهي سنة أي قبل أن تمتد بعد الذبح.
And in the report from 'Ata': He was asked about a man who took something from the slaughtered animal before it isbaṭarrat, and he said: Whatever you take from it is a sunnah, meaning before it stretches out after slaughter.

وجمال سبطرات طوال على وجه الإرض، والتاء ليست للتأنيث، وإنما هي كقولهم حمامات ورجالات في جمع المذكر؛
And sabṭarāt camels are long, in the sense of nursing, and the ta' is not for feminine, but rather like their saying ḥammāmāt and rijālāt in the plural of masculine;
