وكل أمر رزته، فقد سبرته وأسبرته.

والسبر: الأصل واللون والهيئة والمنظر.

فقال: أما اللسان فبدوي، وأما السبر فحضري؛ قال: السبر، بالكسر، الزي والهيئة.
So he said: As for the tongue, it is Bedouin; as for the sabr, it is urban. He said: The sabr, with kasra, is the attire and the form.
وقالت بدوية أعجبنا سبر فلان أي حسن حاله وخصبه في بدنه
And a Bedouin woman said: We admired so-and-so's sabr, meaning his good condition and his robustness in his body.
ورأيته سيء السبر إذا كان شاحبا مضرورا في بدنه
And I saw him with bad sabr if he was pale and harmed in his body.
ويقال: إنه لحسن السبر إذا كان حسن السحناء والهيئة
And it is said: He has good sabr if he has a good complexion and form.
وفي الحديث: يخرج رجل من النار وقد ذهب حبره وسبره ؛ أي هيئته.
And in the Hadith: A man will emerge from the Fire, his ink and his sabr having gone; meaning his appearance.
وفلان حسن الحبر والسبر إذا كان جميلا حسن الهيئة
And so-and-so is good in ink and sabr if he is beautiful and of good form.
والمسبور: الحسن السبر.
And the masbur: one with good sabr.
مر بنيك حتى يتزوجوا في الغرائب فقد غلب عليهم سبر أبي بكر ونحوله
Tell your sons to marry into foreign tribes, for the sabr and leanness of Abu Bakr have overcome them.
عرفته بسبر أبيه أي بهيئته وشبهه
I recognized him by his father's sabr, meaning his form and likeness.

And the sabiri from clothes: the thin ones.
فجاءت بنسج العنكبوت كأنه، على عصويها، سابري مشبرق
So she brought a spider's web, as if it were, on its branches, a fine, shimmering sabiri.
وعرض سابري: رقيق، ليس بمحقق.
And a sabiri عرض: thin, not substantial.
يقوله من يعرض عليه الشيء عرضا لا يبالغ فيه لأن السابري من أجود الثياب يرغب فيه بأدنى عرض
It is said by one who is offered something casually, without exaggeration, because the sabiri is among the finest clothes, desired with the slightest offering.
وعيش كمثل السابري رقيق
And a life like the sabiri, thin.
رأيت على ابن عباس ثوبا سابريا أستشف ما وراءه.
I saw on Ibn Abbas a sabiri garment, through which I could see what was behind it.
والأصل فيه الدروع السابرية منسوبة إلى سابور.
And the origin of it is the sabiri armor, attributed to Sābūr.
ويقال: أجود تمر الكوفة النرسيان والسابري.
And it is said: The best dates of Kufa are the Narsiyan and the Sabiri.
والسبرور: الفقير كالسبروت
And the sabrar: the poor person, like the suburut.
تطعم المعتفين مما لديها من جناها، والعائل السبرورا
She feeds the beggars from what she has of her produce, and the needy, the sabrar.
يجوز أن يكون اسم رجل وأن يكون اسم بلد.
