فعابهم بذلك وبجعل البعيرين ربين لهم

وقال شمر: الزوران رئيسان؛ وأنشد
And Shamir said: 'Al-Zurani' are two leaders; and he recited:
إذ أقرن الزوران: زور رازح رار، وزور نقيه طلافح
When the two leaders met: one was a heavy, strong leader, and the other was a lean, weak leader.
وقال بعضهم: الزور صخرة
And some of them said: 'Al-Zur' is a rock.
ويقال: هذا زوير القوم أي رئيسهم
And it is said: 'This is the 'Zuwayr' of the people, meaning their leader.
والزوير: زعيم القوم؛ قال ابن الأعرابي: الزوير صاحب أمر القوم
And 'Al-Zuwayr': the chief of the people; Ibn Al-A'rabi said: 'Al-Zuwayr' is the one in charge of the people's affairs.
قد نضرب الجيش الخميس الأزورا، حتى ترى زويره مجورا
We may strike the army, the intense Thursday, until you see its leader being led.
وقال أبو سعيد: الزون الصنم، وهو بالفارسية زون بشم الزاي السين
And Abu Sa'id said: 'Al-Zun' is the idol, and in Persian it is 'zun' with the letter Zay and Sin.
وقال حميد: ذات المجوس عكفت للزون
And Humayd said: 'The Magians' deity was devoted to 'Al-Zun'.
أبو عبيدة: كل ما عبد من دون الله فهو زور

والزير: الكتان؛ قال الحطيئة
And 'Al-Zir': the flax; Al-Hutay'ah said:
وإن غضبت، خلت بالمشفرين سبايخ قطن، وزيرا نسالا
And if she gets angry, you would think between her lips were tufts of cotton, and fine, loose flax.
والزير من الأوتار: الدقيق
And 'Al-Zir' from strings: the fine one.
والزير: ما استحكم فتله من الأوتار؛ وزير المزهر: مشتق منه
And 'Al-Zir': that whose twisting is firm from the strings; the 'wazir' of the lute is derived from it.

And it was said: 'Al-Zur' is the intense one, and it is not specific to anything over anything else.

And 'Wizarah': a place; he said:
وكأن ظعن الحي مدبرة نخل بزارة، حمله السعد
And it is as if the departing camels of the tribe were palm trees in Wizarah, carried by good fortune.
وعين الزارة بالبحرين معروفة
And the spring of Al-Zarah in Bahrain is known.
والزارة: قرية كبيرة؛ وكان مرزبان الزارة منها، وله حديث معروف
And 'Al-Zarah': a large village; and the governor of Al-Zarah was from it, and he has a known story.
ومدينة الزوراء: ببغداد في الجانب الشرقي، سميت زوراء لازورار قبلتها
And the city of Al-Zurā': is in Baghdad on the eastern side, named Zurā' because of the deviation of its qibla.

And the Tigris of Baghdad is called Al-Zurā'.

ويقال: إن أبا جعفر هدم الزوراء بالحيرة في أيامه
And it is said: Abu Ja'far demolished Al-Zurā' in Al-Hira during his time.
والزوراء اسم مال كان لأحيحة بن الجلاح الأنصاري
And 'Al-Zurā'' is the name of wealth that belonged to Ahiha ibn Al-Jallah Al-Ansari.
إني أقيم على الزوراء أعمرها، إن الكريم على الإخوان ذو المال
I reside in Al-Zurā', I build it up; indeed, the generous one among brothers possesses wealth.
