قال أبو العباس أحمد بن يحيى: الدكر، بتشديد الدال، جمع ذكرة، أدغمت اللام في الذال فجعلتا دالا مشددة،
Abu al-Abbas Ahmad bin Yahya said: Ad-dikr, with a shaddah on the dal, is a plural of dhikrah, where the lam was assimilated into the dhal, making them a shaddah-d on the dal.
فإذا قلت دكر بغير ألف ولام التعريف قلت ذكر، بالذال،
And when you say dikr without the definite article 'al', you say dhikr, with the dhal.
وجمعوا الذكرة الذكرات، بالذال أيضا.
And they pluralized adh-dhikrah as adh-dhikarat, also with the dhal.
وأما قول الله تعالى: فهل من مدكر*
As for the saying of Allah the Almighty: 'So is there any who will remember?'
فإن الفراء قال: حدثني الكسائي عن إسرائيل عن أبي إسحاق عن الأسود قال: قلت لعبد الله فهل من مذكر ومدكر،
Al-Farra' said: Al-Kisa'i narrated to me from Isra'il from Abu Ishaq from Al-Aswad who said: I said to Abdullah, 'Is there any who reminds and any who remembers?'
فقال: أقرأني رسول الله، صلى الله عليه وسلم، مدكر ، بالدال،
He said: The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, recited to me 'muddekkir', with the dal.
قال الفراء: ومدكر في الأصل مذتكر على مفتعل فصيرت الذال وتاء الافتعال دالا مشددة،
Al-Farra' said: And 'muddekkir' was originally 'mudhtakkir' on the pattern 'muf't'il', so the dhal and the ta' of ifti'al were made into a shaddah-d.
قال: وبعض بني أسد يقول مذكر فيقلبون الدال فتصير ذالا مشددة.
He said: And some of Banu Asad say 'mudhakkir', reversing the dal so it becomes a shaddah-dh.
وقد قال الليث: الدكر ليس من كلام العرب وربيعة تغلط في الذكر فتقول دكر.
And Al-Layth has said: Ad-dikr is not from the speech of the Arabs, and Rabia errs in adh-dhikr by saying dikr.
