And the pig: it is a known wild animal, derived from 'khazr' because that is characteristic of it.
والخزيرة والخزير: اللحم الغاب يؤخذ فيقطع صغارا في القدر ثم يطبخ بالماء الكثير والملح، فإذا أميت طبخا ذر عليه الدقيق فعصد به ثم أدم بأي أدام شيء
And the khazira and khazir: meat that is taken and cut into small pieces in a pot, then cooked with a lot of water and salt, and when it is well-cooked, flour is sprinkled on it and stirred, then it is seasoned with any seasoning.
ولا تكون الخزيرة إلا وفيها لحم، فإذا لم يكن فيها لحم فهي عصيدة
And the khazira is only made with meat; if it has no meat, it is 'aseeda'.
وضع الخزير فقيل: أين مجاشع؟
The khazir was served, and it was said: Where is Majashi'?
وقيل: الخزيرة مرقة، وهي أن تصفى بلالة النخالة ثم تطبخ
And it is said: Al-khazira is broth, which is made by straining the liquid from bran and then cooking it.
والحريرة أرق منها.
And al-harira is thinner than it.
وهو ما فسرناه، وقيل: إذا كانت من لحم فهي خزيرة، وقيل: إن كانت من دقيق فهي حريرة، وإن كانت من نخالة فهي خزيرة.
And it is what we have explained; it is said: if it is from meat, it is a khazira; it is said: if it is from flour, it is harira; and if it is from bran, it is khazira.
الخزرة، مثل الهمزة، وذكره ابن السكيت في باب فعلة: داء يأخذ في مستدق الظهر بفقرة القطن
Al-khazra, like al-hamza, and Ibn al-Sikkit mentioned it in the chapter of fa'la: a disease that affects the lower back at the lumbar vertebrae.
داو بها ظهرك من توجاعه، ... من خزرات فيه وانقطاعه
Treat your back with it from its pain, ... from pains and ruptures in it.

In his hand a flexible stick, its scent is fragrant ... from a noble hand, with nobility in its nose.
والخيزرانة في يد الملاح
And the rudder in the sailor's hand.
كأن اهتزام الرعد خالط جوفه، ... إذا جن فيه الخيزران المثجر
As if the rumbling of thunder mixed with its core, ... when the perforated flutes are hidden within it.
ونحن غداة أوقد في خزارى، ... رفدنا فوق رفد الرافدينا
And we, on the morning when fire was lit in Khuzara, ... we supported with the support of the Rafidain.
وخازر: كانت به وقعة بين إبراهيم بن الأشتر وبين عبيد الله بن زياد، ويومئذ قتل ابن زياد.
And Khazir: there was a battle there between Ibrahim ibn al-Ashtar and Ubayd Allah ibn Ziyad, and on that day Ibn Ziyad was killed.
