If you prayed until you became like the bows (ḥanāʼir) it would not benefit you until you loved the family of the Messenger of God, peace be upon him. It is the plural of ḥanīrah, which is the bow without a string, and it is said: the vaulted arch, and everything bent is a ḥanīrah, meaning if you worshipped until your backs were bent;
لو صليتم حتى تكونوا كالأوتار أو صمتم حتى تكونوا كالحنائر ما نفعكم ذلك إلا بنية صادقة وورع صادق.
If you prayed until you became like the strings (or bows) or fasted until you became like the bent ones (ḥanāʼir) it would not benefit you except with a sincere intention and true piety.
