حروراء: موضع بظاهر الكوفة تنسب إليه الحرورية من الخوارج لأنه كان أول اجتماعهم بها وتحكيمهم حين خالفوا عليا

Hururā': a place on the outskirts of Kufa, from which the Haruriyya, a sect of the Kharijites, are named, because it was their first gathering place and where they made their judgment when they opposed Ali.

وهو من نادر معدول النسب، إنما قياسه حروراوي؛ قال الجوهري: حروراء اسم قرية، يمد ويقصر، ويقال: حروروي بين الحرورية.

And it is an example of rare irregular derivation; its standard form would be Harurāwī. Al-Jawhari said: Harurā' is the name of a village, it can be elongated or shortened, and it is said: Harurāwī is between the Haruriyya.

And I saw in Al-Dahna a sandy hill and a mound called Ramlat Hururā'.

وحري: اسم؛ ونهشل بن حري.

And Huri: is a name; like Nahshal bin Huri.

والحران: موضع؛ قال: فساقان فالحران فالصنع فالرجا، ... فجنبا حمى، فالخانقان فحبحب

And Al-Harran: is a location; he said: Fasāqān, then Al-Harran, then Al-Ṣanʿ, then Al-Rujā, ... then Janbā Ḥimā, then Al-Khānaqān, then Ḥabḥab.

وحريات: موضع؛ قال مليح: فراقبته حتى تيامن، واحتوت ... مطافيل منه حريات فأغرب

And Hurayyāt: is a location; Mulayḥ said: I watched him until he turned south, and a herd of milk-laden camels gathered from it at Hurayyāt, then he went far away.

والحرير: فحل من فحول الخيل معروف؛ قال رؤبة: عرفت من ضرب الحرير عتقا ... فيه، إذا السهب بهن ارمقا

And Al-Ḥarīr: is a stallion among the renowned stallions of horses; Ru'bah said: I recognized nobility from the lineage of Al-Ḥarīr ... in it, when the plains animals looked at them.

الحرير: جد هذا الفرس، وضربه: نسله.

Al-Ḥarīr: is the sire of this horse, and his lineage is its offspring.

وحر: زجر للمعز؛ قال: شمطاء جاءت من بلاد البر، ... قد تركت حيه، وقالت: حر

And 'Hurr': is a call to drive goats; he said: A grey one came from the land of the desert, ... she left her goats, and said: 'Hurr!'

وحيه زجر للضأن، وفي المحكم: وحر زجر للحمار، وأنشد الرجز.

And 'Wayhih' is a call for sheep, and in Al-Muḥkam: 'Hurr' is a call for a donkey, and he recited the verse.

يستحلون الحر والحرير

They will permit the private parts and silk.

الحر، بتخفيف الراء، الفرج وأصله حرح، بكسر الحاء وسكون الراء، ومنهم من يشدد الراء، وليس بجيد، فعلى التخفيف يكون في حرح لا في حرر

Al-Hurr, with a lightened 'ra', means the private parts, and its origin is 'ḥarḥ', with a kasra on the 'ha' and sukun on the 'ra'. Some pronounce it with a stressed 'ra', which is not good; if it is lightened, it belongs to 'ḥarḥ' not 'ḥarar'.
