بان وانقطع بضربه

وخص بعضهم به العظم

وترت يده تتر وترورا وأترها هو وترها ترا

وتر الرجل عن بلاده ترورا: بعد

والترارة: السمن والبضاضة؛ يقال منه: تررت، بالكسر، أي صرت تارا وهو الممتلئ

ربعة من الرجال تار
A medium-sized man, Tar (full-bodied).
وتر الرجل يتر ويتر ترا وترارة وترورا: امتلأ جسمه وتروى عظمه
And the man became full, his body filled and his bones nourished.
بسلهب لين في ترور
With a soft, slender body in fullness.
ونصبح بالغداة أتر شيء، ... ونمسي بالعشي طلنفحينا
And we become in the morning the most relaxed thing, ... and we become in the evening full-bodied.
ورجل تار وتر: طويل
And a man Tar and Watir: tall.
وأرى ترا فعلا، وقد تر ترارة، وقصرة تارة

والترة: الجارية الحسناء الرعناء
And al-Tirra: the beautiful, spirited girl.
التراتير الجواري الرعن

الأترور الغلام الصغير

الأترور الشرطي؛ وأنشد: أعوذ بالله وبالأمير ... من صاحب الشرطة والأترور

وقيل: الأترور غلام الشرطي لا يلبس السواد

والله لولا خشية الأمير، ... وخشية الشرطي والأترور، لجلت بالشيخ من البقير، ... كجولان صعبة عسير
By God, were it not for fear of the Emir, ... and fear of the policeman and the Atroor, I would have brought the old man out of the herd, ... like the movement of a difficult, stubborn she-camel.
وتر بسلحه وهذ به وهر به إذا رمى به
He threw it with his weapon, and hurled it, and cast it when he threw it.
وتر بسلحه يتر: قذف به
He threw it with his weapon, throwing it.
وتر النعام: ألقى ما في بطنه
The ostrich disgorged what was in its belly.
وتر في يده: دفع

لأضطرنك إلى ترك وقحاحك

لأضطرنك إلى ترك أي إلى مجهودك

والتر، بالضم: الخيط الذي يقدر به البناء، فارسي معرب
And al-Turr, with damma: the string by which buildings are measured, a Persian loanword.
هو الخيط الذي يمد على البناء فيبنى عليه وهو بالعربية الإمام
It is the string that is stretched over the building upon which it is built, and it is called 'al-Imam' in Arabic.
والله لأقيمنك على التر
By God, I will make you stand on the Turr.
المطمر هو الخيط الذي يقدر به البناء يقال له بالفارسية التر

برذون تر ومنتر وعرب وقزع ودفاق [دفاق] إذا كان سريع الركض

التر من الخيل المعتدل الأعضاء الخفيف الدرير
Al-Turr among horses is one with balanced limbs, light and swift-footed.
وقد أغدو مع الفتيان ... بالمنجرد التر «1»
And I may go out with the youths ... on the swift, well-proportioned horse.
التار المنفرد عن قومه، تر عنهم إذا انفرد
Al-Tar is one who is separate from his people; he becomes separate from them when he is alone.
ترتر إذا استرخى في بدنه وكلامه
He became Taratar if he became lax in his body and speech.
التار المسترخي من جوع أو غيره
Al-Tar is that which is relaxed from hunger or other causes.
ونصبح بالغداة أتر شيء قوله: أتر شيء أي أرخى شيء من امتلاء الجوف، ونمسي بالعشي جياعا قد خلت أجوافنا
And we become in the morning the most relaxed thing, his saying: the most relaxed thing, meaning the most relaxed thing from a full stomach, and we become in the evening hungry, our stomachs empty.
ويجوز أن يكون أتر شيء أملأ شيء من الغلام التار، وقد تقدم

أتر شيء أرخى شيء من التعب
'Atar shay' means the most relaxed thing from fatigue.
والترترة: تحريك الشيء
And al-Tartara: shaking something.
الترترة أن تقبض على يدي رجل تترتره أي تحركه
Al-Tartara is to grasp a man's hands, you Tar-tar him, meaning you move him.
وترتر الرجل: تعتعه
And the man Tar-tar: he was agitated.
ترتروه ومزمزوه أي حركوه ليستنكه هل يوجد منه ريح الخمر أم لا

هو أن يحرك ويزعزع ويستنكه حتى يوجد منه الريح ليعلم ما شرب، وهي الترترة والمزمزة والتلتلة

ألم تعلمي أني إذا الدهر مسني ... بنائبة، زلت ولم أتترتر
Did you not know that when time afflicts me ... with a calamity, I slip and do not become agitated.
وترتر: تكلم فأكثر؛ قال: قلت لزيد: لا تترتر، فإنهم ... يرون المنايا دون قتلك أو قتلي

والتراتر: الشدائد والأمور العظام
And al-Tarater: hardships and great matters.
والترى: اليد المقطوعة
And al-Tura: the severed hand.
