الربذ: خفة القوائم في المشي وخفة الأصابع في العمل
Al-rabdh: lightness of the limbs in walking and lightness of the fingers in work.
تقول: إنه لربذ.
You say: He is indeed light-limbed/agile.
وربذت يده بالقداح تربذ ربذا أي خفت.
And his hand became light with the arrows, becoming light, meaning it became swift.
والربذ: الخفيف القوائم في مشيه، والربذ: خفة اليد والرجل في العمل والمشي.
And al-rabdh: the one light of limb in his walk, and al-rabdh: lightness of hand and foot in work and walking.
ربذ ربذا، فهو ربذ.
Light-limbed, light-limbed; he is light-limbed.
والربذ: العهن يعلق على الناقة.
And al-rabdh: the woolen tufts hung on the she-camel.
الفراء: الربذ العهون التي تعلق في أعناق الإبل، واحدتها ربذة.
Al-Farra': Al-rabdh are the tufts that are hung on the necks of camels, the singular of which is rabdhah.
قال ابن سيده: الربذة والربذة العهنة تعلق في أذن الشاة أو البعير والناقة؛ الأولى عن كراع، قال: وجمعها ربذ؛ قال: وعندي أنه اسم للجمع كما حكاه سيبوبه من حلق في جمع حلقة.
Ibn Sidah said: Al-rabdhah and al-rabdhah is the tuft hung on the ear of a sheep or a camel; the first is from Kara', who said: its plural is rabdh; he said: and in my opinion it is a noun for the plural, as Sibawayh narrated from halq for the plural of halqah.
والربذة: الخرقة يهنأ بها، تميمية، وقيل هي الصوفة يهنأ بها الجرب.
And al-rabdhah: the rag with which medicine is applied, a Tamimi term, and it is said to be the wool with which scabs are treated.
والربذة: خرقة الحائض وخرقة الصائغ التي يجلو بها الحلى؛ قال النابغة: قبح الله ثم ثنى بلعن ... ربذة الصائغ الجبان الجهولا
And al-rabdhah: the cloth of a menstruating woman and the cloth of the goldsmith with which he polishes jewelry; Al-Nabighah said: May God curse him, then curse him again... the cloth of the cowardly, ignorant goldsmith.
وقيل: هي الصوفة يطلى بها الجربى ويهنأ بها البعير؛ قال الشاعر: يا عقيد اللؤم لولا نعمتي، ... كنت كالربذة ملقى بالفناء
And it was said: it is the wool with which the scabbed animal is smeared and treated; the poet said: O scion of baseness, were it not for my favor... you would be like the rabdhah, cast aside in the courtyard.
وفي حديث عمر بن عبد العزيز: كتب إلى عامله عدي بن أرطاة: إنما أنت ربذة من الربذ ؛ قال هو بمعنى إنما نصبت عاملا لتعالج الأمور برأيك وتجلوها بتدبيرك، وقيل: هي خرقة الحائض فيكون قد ذمه على هذا القول ونال من عرضه، وقيل: هي صوفة من العهن تعلق في أعناق الإبل وعلى الهوادج ولا طائل لها، فشبهه بها أنه من ذوي الشارة والمنظر مع قلة النفع والجدوى.
And in the saying of Umar ibn Abd al-Aziz: He wrote to his governor Adi ibn Artah: You are only a rabdhah from the rabdh; he said it means you have been appointed as an agent to handle matters with your opinion and clarify them with your planning. And it was said: it is the cloth of a menstruating woman, so he has disparaged him according to this saying and attacked his honor. And it was said: it is a wool tuft from the 'abn hung on the necks of camels and on the litters, having no benefit, so he likened him to it, meaning he is of good appearance and form with little use and benefit.
وكل شيء قذر: ربذة.
And everything filthy: rabdhah.
وقال اللحياني: إنما أنت ربذة من الربذ أي منتن لا خير فيك.
And Al-Lihyani said: You are only a rabdhah from the rabdh, meaning stinking, with no good in you.
وقال بعضهم: رجل ربذة لا خير فيه، ولم يذكر النتن.
And some of them said: A man of rabdhah, no good in him, and they did not mention the stink.
والربذة: صمامة القارورة، وجمع ذلك كله ربذ ورباذ.
And al-rabdhah: the stopper of the bottle, and the plural of all of that is rabdh and rabadh.
والربذة: الشدة والشر الذي يقع بين القوم.
And al-rabdhah: the severity and evil that occurs between people.
وبينهم رباذية أي شر؛ قال زياد الطماحي: وكانت بين آل أبي أبي ... رباذية، فأطفأها زياد
And between them was rabadhiyyah, meaning evil; Ziyad Al-Tamahi said: And between the family of Abi Abi... was rabadhiyyah, which Ziyad extinguished.
وجاء ربذ العنان أي منفردا منهزما؛ عن ابن الأعرابي؛ وقول هشام المزني: تردد في الديار تسوق نابا، ... لها حقب تلبس بالبطان ولم ترم ابن دارة عن تميم، ... غداة تركته ربذ العنان
And he came rabdh al-'inan, meaning alone and fleeing; from Ibn Al-A'rabi; and the saying of Hisham Al-Muzani: He wandered in the lands driving a she-camel, ... for a long time she wore the saddlecloth, and Ibn Darrah did not aim at Tamim, ... on the morning I left him rabdh al-'inan.
فسره فقال: تركته خاليا من الهجاء؛ يقول: إنما عملك أن تبكي في الديار ولا تذب عن نفسك.
He explained it, saying: I left him empty of reproach; he means your work is only to weep in the lands and not defend yourself.
أبو سعيد: لثة ربذة قليلة اللحم؛ وأنشد قول الأعشى: تخله فلسطيا إذا ذقت طعمه ... على ربذات الني، حمش لثاتها
Abu Sa'id: A rabdhah gum, little flesh; and he recited the saying of Al-A'sha: You taste its Palestinian flavor when you taste its food... on the rabdhah of the raw meat, its gums are lean.
قال: الني اللحم. وروى ثعلب عن ابن الأعرابي قال: ربذات الني: من الربذة وهي السواد.
He said: Al-ni is meat. And Tha'lab narrated from Ibn Al-A'rabi, saying: Rabdhah of the raw meat: from al-rabdhah, which is darkness.
قال ابن الأنباري: الني الشحم من نوت الناقة إذا سمنت. قال: والنيء، بالهمز، اللحم الذي لم ينضج؛ قال: وهذا هو الصحيح.
Ibn Al-Anbari said: Al-ni is fat from the she-camel's hump if she is fat. He said: And al-ni', with hamza, is the meat that is not cooked; he said: And this is correct.
وفرس ربذ: سريع.
And a rabdh horse: swift.
وفلان ذو ربذات أي كثير السقط في كلامه.
And so-and-so is dhu rabdhah, meaning prone to many stumbles in his speech.
والربذة: قرية قرب المدينة، وفي المحكم: موضع به قبر أبي ذر الغفاري، رضي الله تعالى عنه.
And al-rabdhah: a village near the city, and in Al-Muhkam: a place where the grave of Abu Dharr Al-Ghifari is, may God have mercy on him.
وقال أبو حنيفة: الربذي الوتر يقال له ذلك ولم يصنع بالربذة؛ قال: والأصل ما عمل بها؛ وأنشد لعبيد بن أيوب وهو من لصوص العرب: ألم ترني حالفت صفراء نبعة، ... لها ربذي لم تفلل معابله؟
And Abu Hanifa said: Al-rabdhi is the bowstring, it is called that and not made with rabdhah; he said: and the origin is what is made with it; and he recited for Ubayd ibn Ayyub, who is from the Arab thieves: Did you not see me allied with a yellow nab'ah, ... it has a rabdhi, its arrows are not blunted?
والربذية: الأصبحية من السياط.
And al-rabdhiyyah: the morning whip from the whips.
وأربذ الرجل إذا اتخذ السياط الربذية؛ وهي معروفة؛ وقال ابن شميل: سوط ذو ربذ، وهي سيور عند مقدم جلد السوط.
And a man 'arbazh if he makes the rabdhiyyah whips; and they are known; and Ibn Shamil said: a whip with rabdh, which are straps at the front of the whip's leather.
