The thing startled him and distressed him.
And that does not distress him, meaning he does not care about it nor is he bothered by it.
You say: 'That does not bother me,' meaning it does not disturb me, and I do not care about it nor do I pay attention to it.
Eat and drink, and let not the rising dawn disturb you, meaning do not be agitated by the elongated dawn and thus refrain from suhoor, for it is the false dawn.
And if the first of them was for God, then let the latter not deter you, meaning let not that which preceded with its intention for God prevent you, nor move you, nor remove you from it. The meaning is: if he intends an action and his intention is sound, and Satan whispers to him saying, 'You intend this for showing off,' then let that not prevent him from doing it.
He moved it and repaired it.
And in the hadith: It was said to the Prophet, peace be upon him, in his mosque: 'O Messenger of God, repair it,' and he said, 'Rather, it is a throne like the throne of Moses.' Regarding his saying 'huddahu,' Ibn Uyaynah used to say its meaning is 'to repair it.'
And anything you move, you have moved it, meaning you have shaken it, so it is as if the meaning is that it is demolished and its construction is renewed and repaired.
O fire, do not disturb it.
And in the hadith of Ibn Umar: 'If I met the killer of my father in the sanctuary, I would not move him,' meaning I would not stir him nor disturb him.
And such-and-such did not move him, meaning it did not stir him.
And 'hayd' from cursing me, meaning he did not delay nor lie.
And let this not deter you from your opinion, meaning let it not remove you.
And he has no movement, meaning no agitation.
So that it is not said to him 'hayd' nor 'had'
And you have deterred a man and stopped him; according to Yaqub.
And you have deterred a man, meaning you have warned him away from something and turned him from it.
It is said: 'Huddahu, O man,' meaning 'Remove him from his place.'
Meaning it is not said to him 'hayd' nor 'had,' meaning it is not moved, nor prevented from anything, nor deterred from it.
And 'al-hayd' is from your saying 'hadani haydun' meaning 'it distressed me.'
And it is said: 'So-and-so came to a people, and they did not say to him 'hayd ma lak,' meaning they did not ask him about his condition.'
O you, what is wrong with you from longing and sleeplessness, ... and a phantom passed by during terrifying nights.

Isa ibn Umar narrated to me: 'Hayd ma lak,' meaning 'What is your command?'
And it is said: 'Even if he insulted me, I would not say 'hayd ma lak.'
And the Arabs say: 'Hayd ma lak' when they ask a person about his condition, just as you say: 'O you, what is wrong with you?'
He did not say to him 'hayd ma lak,' and they made it accusative, and that is when a stray camel passes by a man, and he does not turn it aside nor look at it.
A camel passed by, and he did not say to it 'hayd ma lak.'
'O you, what is wrong with you,' or 'if you had allowed half.'

And he deterred the man, meaning he restrained him.
'Hayd,' 'hayd,' 'hayd,' and 'had': from driving camels and urging them on.
And we urged them on with 'hayd' and 'halla,' ... until you see their bottom become their top.
And 'al-hayd' in chanting is like the saying of Al-Kumait: 'A reproach to them, permissible and sinful... And the best of their singing is here and 'hayd'.'
And that is when the chanter, if he wants to chant, says: 'Hayd, hayd,' then he raises his voice.
And the Arabs say: 'Hayd,' with a sukun on the dal, 'ma lak,' when they ask a person about his condition.
