And in camels it is stiffness of the legs from creation, and in horses it is an elevation of the pastern and the heel of the hoof and the uprightness of the fetlock and its inclination towards the hoof, and this only occurs in the leg.

قفد قفدا، وهو أقفد وهو عيب؛

It deviated, so it is aqfad, and it is a defect;

وقيل: الأقفد من الناس الذي يمشي على صدور قدميه من قبل الأصابع ولا تبلغ عقباه الأرض، ومن الدواب المنتصب الرسغ في إقبال على الحافر.

And it was said: Al-aqfad among people is one who walks on the balls of his feet from the toes, and his heels do not reach the ground, and among animals it is the upright fetlock inclining towards the hoof.

يقال: فرس أقفد بين القفد وهو عيب من عيوب الخيل؛

It is said: an aqfad horse between the qafd, and it is a defect among the defects of horses;

ولا يكون القفد إلا في الرجل.

And al-qafd only occurs in the leg.

القفد يبس يكون في رسغه كأنه يطأ على مقدم سنبكه.
