فالبيت أنه يقال قدني وقدي بمعنى
The verse is that it is said 'qadni' and 'qadi' with the same meaning.
هل امتلأت؟ فتقول: هل من مزيد؟
Have you filled up? And it will say: Is there any more?
حتى إذا أوعبوا فيها قالت قد قد أي حسبي حسبي
Until when they have filled it, it will say: 'Qad qad', meaning 'Enough, enough'.
ويروى بالطاء بدل الدال وهو بمعناه
And it is narrated with a ta' instead of a dal, and it has the same meaning.
فيقول قد قد بمعنى حسب
So he says: 'Qad qad', meaning 'sufficient'.
وتكرارها لتأكيد الأمر
And its repetition is for emphasis of the matter.
ويقول المتكلم: قدي أي حسبي
And the speaker says: 'Qadi', meaning 'sufficient for me'.
والمخاطب: قدك أي حسبك
And the addressee: 'Qadk', meaning 'sufficient for you'.
أنه قال لأبي بكر، رضي الله عنه: قدك يا أبا بكر
That he said to Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him: 'Sufficient for you, O Abu Bakr'.
سمع بعض الفصحاء يقول: قد كنت في خير فتعرفه
Some eloquent speakers were heard saying: 'Qad kuntu fi khayrin fa-ta'rifuhu' (Indeed I was in goodness, so you know it).
وإن جعلت قد اسما شددته فتقول: كتبت قدا حسنة
And if you make 'qad' a noun, you double it, so you say: 'I wrote a good 'qad'.
ولو سميت رجلا بلا أو ما ثم زدت في آخره ألفا همزت
And if you named a man 'Bala' or 'Ma' and then added an alif to its end, you would hamzate it.
لو سميت بقد رجلا لقلت: هذا قد، بالتشديد
If you named a man with 'qad', you would say: 'This is 'qadd', with tashdid'.
وأما الصحيح فلا يضعف فتقول في قد: هذا قد ورأيت قدا ومررت بقد
But as for the sound [consonant], it is not doubled, so you say for 'qad': 'This is 'qad', and I saw 'qad', and I passed by 'qad'.
