صمده يصمده صمدا وصمد إليه كلاهما: قصده.
Ṣamadahu yaṣmaduhu ṣamdan and ṣamada ilayhi, both mean: he intended him/it.
وصمد صمد الأمر: قصد قصده واعتمده.
And ṣamada ṣamada al-amr means: he intended its purpose and relied on it.
وتصمد له بالعصا: قصد.
And taṣammada lahu bil-ʿaṣā means: he aimed for him with the stick.
فصمدت له حتى أمكنتني منه غرة أي وثبت له وقصدته وانتظرت غفلته.
So I aimed for him until I could get an opening on him, meaning I lunged at him, intended him, and waited for his inattention.
فصمدا صمدا حتى يتجلى لكم عمود الحق.
So, intend, intend until the pillar of truth becomes clear to you.
وبيت مصمد، بالتشديد، أي مقصود.
And a bayt muṣammad, with shadda, means intended.
وتصمد رأسه بالعصا: عمد لمعظمه.
And taṣammada raʾsahu bil-ʿaṣā means: he aimed for its most prominent part.
وصمده بالعصا صمدا إذا ضربه بها.
And ṣamada-hu bil-ʿaṣā ṣamdan means if he struck him with it.
وصمّد رأسه تصميدًا وذلك إذا لف رأسه بخرقة أو ثوب أو منديل ما خلا العمامة، وهي الصماد.
And taṣammada raʾsahu taṣmīdan means if he wrapped his head with a cloth, garment, or handkerchief, excluding a turban, and that is the ṣimād.
الصماد عفاص القارورة؛ وقد صمدها يصمدها.
The ṣimād is the stopper of the bottle; and he stoppered it, he stoppered it.
الصماد سداد القارورة؛ وقال الليث: الصمادة عفاص القارورة.
The ṣimād is the stopper of the bottle; and Al-Layth said: the ṣammādah is the stopper of the bottle.
وأصمد إليه الأمر: أسنده.
And aṣmada ilayhi al-amr means: he entrusted the matter to him.
الصمد، بالتحريك: السيد المطاع الذي لا يقضى دونه أمر، وقيل: الذي يصمد إليه في الحوائج أي يقصد؛
Al-ṣamad, with haraka, is the obeyed master whose command is not superseded, and it is said: he to whom people turn for needs, meaning he is intended.
ألا بكر الناعي بخيري بني أسد، بعمرو بن مسعود، وبالسيد الصمد
Indeed, the announcer mourned the best of Banu Asad, by Amr bin Mas'ud, and by the lord, the ṣamad.
علامته بجسام، ثم قلت له: خذها حذيف، فأنت السيد الصمد
I struck him with a large one, then I said to him: Take it, Hudhayf, for you are the lord, the ṣamad.
والصمد: من صفاته تعالى وتقدس لأنه أصمدت إليه الأمور فلم يقض فيها غيره؛
And Al-Ṣamad: is one of His attributes, may He be exalted and sanctified, because matters are referred to Him and nothing is decided except by Him.
والمصمد: لغة في المصمت وهو الذي لا جوف له، وقيل: الصمد الذي لا يطعم، وقيل: الصمد السيد الذي ينتهي إليه السودد، وقيل: الصمد السيد الذي قد انتهى سودده؛
And Al-Muṣmad: is a variant pronunciation of Al-Muṣmat, which is that which has no hollow interior. And it is said: Al-Ṣamad is that which does not eat. And it is said: Al-Ṣamad is the master to whom dominion reaches. And it is said: Al-Ṣamad is the master whose dominion has reached its peak.
أما الله تعالى فلا نهاية لسودده لأن سودده غير محدود؛
As for Allah, may He be exalted, there is no end to His dominion because His dominion is unlimited.
وقيل: الصمد الدائم الباقي بعد فناء خلقه؛
And it is said: Al-Ṣamad is the eternal, the everlasting after the annihilation of His creation.
وقيل: هو الذي يصمد إليه الأمر فلا يقضى دونه، وهو من الرجال الذي ليس فوقه أحد،
And it is said: He is the one to whom matters are referred and not decided without Him, and he is of men one who has no one above him.
وقيل: الصمد الذي صمد إليه كل شيء أي الذي خلق الأشياء كلها لا يستغني عنه شيء وكلها دال على وحدانيته.
And it is said: Al-Ṣamad is the one to whom all things turn, meaning He created all things, nothing is independent of Him, and all of it indicates His oneness.
لو قلت: لا يخرج من هذا الباب إلا صمد، ما خرج إلا أقلكم ؛
If I said: no one shall leave this door except a ṣamad, then fewer than you would leave.
وقيل: الصمد هو الذي انتهى في سودده والذي يقصد في الحوائج؛
And it is said: Al-Ṣamad is he who has reached the peak of his dominion and he who is intended for needs.
وقال أبو عمرو: الصمد من الرجال الذي لا يعطش ولا يجوع في الحرب؛
And Abu Amr said: Al-Ṣamad of men is he who does not thirst nor hunger in war.
وسارية فوقها أسود بكف سبنتى ذفيف صمد
And a mountain peak above it are banners, in the hand of a brave, steadfast man.
قال: السارية الجبل المرتفع الذاهب في السماء كأنه عمود.
He said: Al-Sāriyah is the high mountain rising into the sky as if it were a pillar.
والأسود: العلم بكف رجل جريء.
And Al-Aswad: the banner in the hand of a bold man.
والصمد: الرفيع من كل شيء.
And Al-Ṣamad: the high part of everything.
والصمد: المكان الغليظ المرتفع من الأرض لا يبلغ أن يكون جبلا، وجمعه أصماد وصماد؛
And Al-Ṣamad: the thick, elevated place on the ground that does not reach the level of a mountain, and its plural is aṣmād and ṣimād.
يغادر الصمد كظهر الأجزل
He leaves the elevated ground like the back of a large camel.
والمصمد: الصلب الذي ليس فيه خور.
And Al-Muṣmad: the solid that has no weakness.
الصمد والصماد ما دق من غلظ الجبل وتواضع واطمأن ونبت فيه الشجر.
Al-Ṣamad and Al-Ṣimād are what is fine from the thickness of the mountain, humble, settled, and in which trees grow.
والصمد الشديد من الأرض.
And Al-Ṣamad is the hard ground.
بناء مصمد أي معلى.
A building muṣammad, meaning elevated.
ويقال لما أشرف من الأرض الصمد، بإسكان الميم.
And what rises from the earth is called Al-Ṣamad, with a sukun on the mim.
وروضات بني عقيل يقال لها الصماد والرباب.
And the meadows of Banu Aqil are called Al-Ṣimād and Al-Rabāb.
والصمدة والصمدة: صخرة راسية في الأرض مستوية بمتن الأرض وربما ارتفعت شيئا؛
And Al-Ṣamdah and Al-Ṣamdah: a firm rock in the ground, level with the surface of the earth, and sometimes slightly raised.
مخالف صمدة وقرين أخرى، تجر عليه حاصبها الشمال
Opposing a firm rock and another companion, the north wind drags its pebbles over it.
وناقة صمدة وصمدة: حمل عليها فلم تلقح؛
And a ṣamidah and a ṣamdah camel: she was bred but did not conceive.
ويقال: ناقة مصماد وهي الباقية على القر والجدب الدائمة الرسل؛
And it is said: a muṣmād camel, which is one that remains barren through cold and drought, constantly producing milk.
ونوق مصامد ومصاميد؛
And muṣāmid and muṣāmīd camels.
بين طري سمك ومالح، ولقح مصامد مجالح
Between fresh, thick, and salty, and barren, difficult-to-breed camels.
والصمد: ماء للرباب وهو في شاكلة في شق ضرية الجنوبي.
And Al-Ṣamad: is a water source for Al-Rubāb, and it is in a similar location in the southern part of Ḍirriyah.
