And he filled his waterskin until it became like the zind, meaning it was full.
وزند السقاء والإناء زندا وزندهما: ملأهما، وكذلك الحوض
And he filled the waterskin and the container with zandan and zandahuma: he filled them, and likewise the basin.
وزندت الناقة زندا، وذلك أن تخرج رحمها عند الولادة
And the she-camel zandated, which is when she expels her womb during childbirth.
حجر تلف عليه خرق ويحشى به حياء الناقة وفيه خيط، فإذا أخذها لذلك كرب جروه فأخرجوه فتظن أنها ولدت، وذلك إذا أرادوا أن يظأروها على ولد غيرها، فإذا فعل ذلك بها عطفت
A stone around which rags are wrapped and with which the she-camel's vagina is stuffed, and in it is a thread; when she is taken for that, they pull it out, and she thinks she has given birth. This is when they want her to foster another's offspring, and when that is done to her, she becomes affectionate.
يقال للدرجة التي تدس في حياء الناقة الزند والبداه
The device inserted into the she-camel's vagina is called the zind and the budah.
زندت الناقة إذا كان في حيائها قرن فثقبوا حياءها من كل ناحية، ثم جعلوا في تلك الثقب سيورا وعقدوها عقدا شديدا فذلك التزنيد
The she-camel is zandated if there is a horn in her vagina; they pierce her vagina from every side, then they put cords in those holes and tie them tightly; that is al-taznid.
وثوب مزند: قليل العرض
And a zannad garment: narrow in width.
ورجل مزند إذا كان بخيلا ممسكا
And a zannad man if he is stingy and withholding.
ورجل مزند: لئيم، وقيل: هو الدعي
And a zannad man: base, and it is said: he is an imposter.

And zannad giving: little.
وزند على أهله: شد عليهم
And he zandated upon his family: he was harsh towards them.
زند الرجل إذا كذب، وزند إذا بخل، وزند إذا عاقب فوق ما له
A man zandates if he lies, and zandates if he is stingy, and zandates if he punishes beyond what is due to him.
ما يزندك أحد على فضل زند، ولا يزندك ولا يزندك أيضا، بالتشديد، أي لا يزيدك
No one zandates you upon a surplus of zind, nor does he zandate you, nor does he zandate you, with emphasis, meaning he does not increase you.
ويقال: تزند فلان إذا ضاق صدره
And it is said: So-and-so tazannada if his chest became constricted.
ورجل مزند: سريع الغضب
And a zannad man: quick to anger.
والمزند: الضيق البخيل
And al-muzannad: the constricted, the stingy.
والتزند: التحزق والتغضب
And al-tazannud: constriction and anger.
إذا أنت فاكهت الرجال فلا تلع، ... وقل مثل ما قالوا، ولا تتزند
If you converse with men, do not be foolish... and say what they say, and do not tazannad.
والزندان: طرفا عظمي الساعدين مذكران
And al-zindan: the two ends of the forearm bones, masculine.
والزندان عظما الساعد أحدهما أدق من الآخر، فطرف الزند الذي يلي الإبهام هو الكوع، وطرف الزند الذي يلي الخنصر كرسوع، والرسغ مجتمع الزندين ومن عندهما تقطع يد السارق
And al-zindan are the two bones of the forearm, one is thinner than the other; the end of the zind that is next to the thumb is the ku', and the end of the zind that is next to the little finger is the kursu', and the rasgh is the meeting place of the two zinds, and from there the hand of the thief is cut.
والزند: موصل طرف الذراع في الكف وهما زندان: الكوع والكرسوع
And the zind: the connection of the end of the forearm to the hand, and they are two zinds: the ku' and the kursu'.
