وإنما الوعيد فيه بحسب الحال لأنه يتوعدهم باللقاء ويتوعدونه بمثله

And the threat within it is according to the situation because he threatens them with meeting and they threaten him with the like.

وإذا أردت برويد المهلة والإرواد في الشيء فانصب ونون

And if you intend by 'ruwayda' the respite and the seeking of something, then make it accusative and tanween it.

وتقول العرب أرود في معنى رويدا المنصوبة

And the Arabs say 'arwad' in the meaning of the accusative 'ruwayda'.

تقول رويدا إذا أرادوا دعه وخله

You say 'ruwayda' when they mean 'leave him and let him be'.

وإذا أرادوا ارفق به وأمسكه قالوا: رويدا زيدا أيضا

And when they mean 'be gentle with him and hold him back', they say: 'ruwayda Zaydan' as well.

ويجوز إضافتها إلى زيد لأنهما مصدران كقوله تعالى: فضرب الرقاب

And it is permissible to add it to Zayd because they are two masdars, like His saying: 'So strike the necks'.

تراود فتاها عن نفسه

She solicits her young man for himself.

وراوَدْتُهُ على كذا مراودة وروادا أي أردته

And I solicited him for such-and-such, a 'muraawadah' and 'ruwaada', meaning I wanted him.

Where he urges his uncle Abu Talib towards Islam, meaning he revisits him and seeks him.

قد والله راودت بني إسرائيل على أدنى من ذلك فتركوه
