والرصدة، بالضم: الزبية.
And al-ruṣdah, with dammah: is a pit trap.
وقال بعضهم: أرصد له بالخير والشر، لا يقال إلا بالألف، وقيل: ترصده ترقبه.
And some of them said: 'arṣada for him with good and evil,' it is not said except with alif, and it was said: 'taraṣṣadahu' means to watch for him.
وأرصد له الأمر: أعده.
And arṣada the matter for him: means he prepared it.
والارتصاد: الرصد.
And al-irtisād: is al-raṣd.
والذين اتخذوا مسجدا ضرارا وكفرا وتفريقا بين المؤمنين وإرصادا لمن حارب الله ورسوله
And those who took a mosque for harm and disbelief and division among the believers and as a preparation for him who fought Allah and His Messenger.
فقال المنافقون الذين بنوا مسجد الضرار: نبني هذا المسجد وننتظر أبا عامر حتى يجيء ويصلي فيه.
So the hypocrites who built the mosque of harm said: 'We will build this mosque and wait for Abu 'Amir until he comes and prays in it.'
والإرصاد: الانتظار.
And al-irṣād: is waiting.
فقال الأزهري: وهذا صحيح من جهة اللغة.
So al-Azhari said: 'And this is correct from the perspective of language.'
رصدت فلانا أرصده إذا ترقبته.
I watched so-and-so, I watch him if I waited for him.
وأرصدت له شيئا أرصده: أعددت له.
And I prepared something for him, I prepare it for him: I made it ready for him.
دينار إلا دينار أرصده أي أعده لدين؛
a dinar except for a dinar which I have prepared, meaning I have set it aside for a debt;
يقال: أرصدته إذا قعدت له على طريقه ترقبه.
It is said: 'arṣadtuhu' if you sat for him on his path, watching him.
وأرصدت له العقوبة إذا أعددتها له، وحقيقته جعلتها له على طريقه كالمترقبة له؛
And I prepared the punishment for him if I made it ready for him, and its reality is that you made it for him on his path as if waiting for him;
ومنه الحديث: فأرصد الله على مدرجته ملكا أي وكله بحفظ المدرجة، وهي الطريق.
And from it is the hadith: 'So Allah appointed an angel on his path, meaning He entrusted him with guarding the path, which is the road.'
وجعله رصدا أي حافظا معدا.
And He made him a raṣdan, meaning a guard, prepared.
ما خلف من دنياكم إلا ثلثمائة درهم كان أرصدها لشراء خادم.
He did not leave from your worldly possessions except three hundred dirhams which he had set aside for buying a servant.
وكانوا لا يرصدون الثمار في الدين وينبغي أن يرصد العين في الدين
And they did not set aside fruits for debt, but it is necessary to set aside cash for debt.
قولهم فلان يرصد فلانا معناه يقعد له على طريقه.
Their saying 'So-and-so watches so-and-so' means he sits for him on his path.
والمرصد والمرصاد عند العرب الطريق؛
And al-marṣad and al-mirṣād among the Arabs is the road;
واقعدوا لهم كل مرصد
And sit in wait for them at every watch post.
معناه واقعدوا لهم على طريقهم إلى البيت الحرام، وقيل: معناه أي كونوا لهم رصدا لتأخذوهم في أي وجه توجهوا؛
Its meaning is 'sit for them on their path to the Sacred House,' and it was said: its meaning is 'be a watch for them so you can take them wherever they turn.'
إن ربك لبالمرصاد
Indeed, your Lord is in observation.
معناه لبالطريق أي بالطريق الذي ممرك عليه؛
Its meaning is 'on the road,' meaning on the road by which you pass;
وإن المنايا للرجال بمرصد
And indeed, fates for men are in a watch post.
أي يرصد من كفر به وصد عنه بالعذاب؛
Meaning He watches with punishment those who disbelieve in Him and turn away from Him;
أي يرصد كل إنسان حتى يجازيه بفعله.
Meaning He watches every person until He recompenses him for his deeds.
المرصاد الموضع الذي ترصد الناس فيه كالمضمار الموضع الذي تضمر فيه الخيل من ميدان السباق ونحوه، والمرصد: مثل المرصاد، وجمعه المراصد، وقيل: المرصاد المكان الذي يرصد فيه العدو.
Al-mirṣād is the place where people are watched, like al-miḍmār, the place where horses are trained from a racecourse and the like, and al-marṣad: is like al-mirṣād, and its plural is al-marāṣid, and it was said: al-mirṣād is the place where the enemy is watched.
إن ربك لبالمرصاد
Indeed, your Lord is in observation.
المرصاد ثلاثة جسور خلف الصراط: جسر عليه الأمانة، وجسر عليه الرحم، وجسر عليه الرب؛
Al-mirṣād is three bridges behind the bridge (Sirat): a bridge on which is trust, a bridge on which is kinship, and a bridge on which is the Lord;
إن جهنم كانت مرصادا
Indeed, Hell was an observation post.
أي ترصد الكفار.
Meaning it lies in wait for the disbelievers.
فإنه يسلك من بين يديه ومن خلفه رصدا
For him, there follow from before him and from behind him watchers.
أي إذا نزل الملك بالوحي أرسل الله معه رصدا يحفظون الملك من أن يأتي أحد من الجن، فيستمع الوحي فيخبر به الكهنة ويخبروا به الناس، فيساووا الأنبياء.
Meaning when the angel descends with revelation, Allah sends with him watchers to guard the angel from any jinn coming to listen to the revelation and inform the soothsayers, and they inform the people, making them equal to the prophets.
والمرصد: كالرصد.
And al-marṣad: is like al-raṣd.
والمرصاد والمرصد: موضع الرصد.
And al-mirṣād and al-marṣad: are the place of watching.
مراصد الحيات: مكامنها؛
The watch posts of snakes: their hiding places;
وليث رصيد: يرصد ليثب؛
And a raṣīd lion: lies in wait to pounce;
والرصد والرصد: المطر يأتي بعد المطر، وقيل: هو المطر يقع أولا لما يأتي بعده، وقيل: هو أول المطر.
And al-raṣd and al-raṣd: is rain that comes after rain, and it was said: it is the rain that falls first for what comes after it, and it was said: it is the first rain.
من أسماء المطر الرصد.
Among the names of rain is al-raṣd.
الرصد العهاد ترصد مطرا بعدها، قال: فإن أصابها مطر فهو العشب، واحدتها عهدة، أراد: نبت العشب أو كان العشب.
Al-raṣd are the rainfalls that anticipate rain after them, he said: if rain hits them, it is grass, its singular is 'uhdah, meaning: grass grew or there was grass.
وينبت البقل حينئذ مقترحا صلبا، واحدته رصدة ورصدة؛
And herbs grow at that time, firm and abundant, its singular is raṣdah and raṣdah;
يقال قد كان قبل هذا المطر له رصدة؛
It is said, 'There was before this rain a raṣdah for it.'
والرصدة، بالفتح: الدفعة من المطر، والجمع رصاد، وتقول منه: رصدت الأرض، فهي مرصودة.
And al-raṣdah, with fatha: is a shower of rain, and its plural is raṣād, and from it you say: 'I rained upon the land,' and it is marṣūdah.
أرض مرصدة مطرت وهي ترجى لأن تنبت، والرصد حينئذ: الرجاء لأنها ترجى كما ترجى الحائل
Marṣadah land is rained upon and it is hoped that it will grow, and al-raṣd at that time: is the hope because it is hoped for as a barren woman is hoped for.
وأرض مرصودة ومرصدة: أصابتها الرصدة.
And marṣūdah and marṣadah land: has been hit by al-raṣdah.
لا يقال مرصودة ولا مرصدة، إنما يقال أصابها رصد ورصد.
It is not said marṣūdah nor marṣadah, rather it is said 'raṣd and raṣd hit it.'
وأرض مرصدة إذا كان بها شيء من رصد.
And marṣadah land if there is some raṣd in it.
إذا مطرت الأرض في أول الشتاء فلا يقال لها مرت لأن بها حينئذ رصدا، والرصد حينئذ الرجاء لها كما ترجى الحامل.
If the land is rained upon at the beginning of winter, it is not said to have passed because there is raṣd in it at that time, and raṣd at that time is the hope for it as a pregnant woman is hoped for.
الرصدة ترصد وليا من المطر.
Al-raṣdah anticipates a portion of rain.
الرصد، بالتحريك، القليل من الكلإ والمطر.
Al-raṣd, with teshdid: a little of pasture and rain.
الرصد القليل من الكلإ في أرض يرجى لها حيا الربيع.
Al-raṣd is a little of pasture in land where spring vegetation is hoped for.
وأرض مرصدة: فيها رصد من الكلإ.
And marṣadah land: has raṣd of pasture in it.
ويقال: بها رصد من حيا.
And it is said: 'It has raṣd of vegetation.'
الرصائد والوصائد مصائد تعد للسباع.
Al-raṣā'id and al-waṣā'id are traps prepared for beasts.
