والخلد: اسم من أسماء الجنة؛ وفي التهذيب: من أسماء الجنان

And al-khuld: is one of the names of Paradise; and in Al-Tahdhib: it is among the names of the Gardens.

وخلد بالمكان يخلد خلودا، وأخلد: أقام

And khalada bi-l-makan yakhludu khuludan, and akhlada: to remain.

والمخلد من الرجال: الذي أسن ولم يشب كأنه مخلد لذلك

And al-mukhallad among men: is one who has aged and not greyed, as if he were made immortal for that reason.

ويقال للرجل إذا بقي سواد رأسه ولحيته على الكبر: إنه لمخلد

And it is said of a man whose hair and beard remain black in old age: he is mukhallad.

والخوالد: الأثافي في مواضعها، والخوالد: الجبال والحجارة والصخور لطول بقائها بعد دروس الأطلال

And al-khawālid: the hearthstones in their places, and al-khawālid: the mountains and stones and rocks due to their long endurance after the ruins have faded.

إلا رمادا هامدا دفعت، ... عنه الرياح، خوالد سحم

Except for dying embers pushed away ... by the winds, enduring dark ashes.

وقوله: فتأتيك حذاء محمولة، ... يفض خوالدها الجندلا الخوالد هنا: الحجارة، والمعنى القوافي.

And his saying: Then it comes to you directly, carried, ... breaking its stones, the khawālid here: the stones, and the meaning is the rhymes.

وخلد إلى الأرض وأخلد: أقام فيها

And khalada ila al-ard wa akhlada: to remain in it.

ولكنه أخلد إلى الأرض واتبع هواه

But he inclined towards the earth and followed his desires.

وأخلد إلى الأرض وإلى فلان أي ركن إليه ومال إليه ورضي به

And akhlada ila al-ard wa ila fulan means to lean towards him, incline to him, and be pleased with him.

وفي حديث علي، كرم الله وجهه، يذم الدنيا: من دان لها وأخلد إليها أي ركن إليها ولزمها.

And in the hadith of Ali, may Allah honor his face, condemning the world: whoever submits to it and inclines to it, meaning he leans towards it and adheres to it.

يطوف عليهم ولدان مخلدون*

Young boys, eternally youthful, will go around them.

وقيل: مقرطون بالخلدة، وقيل: معناه يخدمهم وصفاء لا يجوز واحد منهم حد الوصافة.

And it was said: wearing earrings (al-khulda), and it was said: it means servants and youths who do not exceed the description of service.

وقال الفراء في قوله مخلدون* يقول: إنهم على سن واحد لا يتغيرون.

And Al-Farra said regarding the saying mukhalladūn*: it means they are of one age, they do not change.

أبو عمرو: خلد جاريته إذا حلاها بالخلدة وهي القرطة «1» وجمعها خلد.

Abu Amr: khallada his female slave if he adorned her with al-khulda, which is the earring, and its plural is khuld.

والخلد، بالتحريك: البال والقلب والنفس، وجمعه أخلاد؛ يقال: وقع ذلك في خلدي أي في روعي وقلبي.

And al-khuld, with harakah: the state, the heart, and the soul, and its plural is akhlād; it is said: that occurred in my khuldi, meaning in my mind and heart.

والخلد والخلد: ضرب من الفئرة، وقيل: الخلد الفأرة العمياء، وجمعها مناجذ على غير لفظ الواحد

And al-khuld and al-khuld: a type of mouse, and it was said: al-khuld is the blind mouse, and its plural is manājid, not following the singular's pattern.

وقد سمت خالدا وخويلدا ومخلدا وخليدا وخلادا وخلدة وخالدة وخليدة.

And they have named [people] Khalid, Khuwailid, Mukhallad, Khulaid, Khallād, Khulda, Khālida, and Khulaida.

والخالدي: ضرب من المكاييل؛ عن ابن الأعرابي؛ وأنشد:

And al-Khālidi: a type of measure; from Ibn Al-A'rabi; and he recited:

علي إن لم تنهضي بوقري، ... بأربعين قدرت بقدر، بالخالدي لا تضاع حجري

Upon me, if you do not carry my burden, ... with forty, you measured by measure, by al-Khālidi, my stone will not be doubled.

والخويلدية من الإبل: نسبة إلى خويلد من بني عقيل.

And al-Khuwailidiyyah of camels: is attributed to Khuwailid from Banu Uqayl.

وبنو خويلد بطن من عقيل.

And Banu Khuwailid is a clan from Uqayl.

وقبلي مات الخالدان كلاهما: ... عميد بني جحوان وابن المضلل

And before me, both Al-Khālidān died: the chief of Banu Juhwān and the son of Al-Muḍallal.
