And 'jahada' a man: he reached his limit; and it was said: he was distressed.
بلغت مشقته وأجهدته على أن يفعل كذا وكذا
You reached his hardship and compelled him to do such and such.
والذين لا يجدون إلا جهدهم
And those who find nothing but their capacity.
إذا جلس بين شعبها الأربع ثم جهدها أي دفعها وحفزها
When he sat between her four limbs, then he 'jahadaha', meaning he pushed and urged her.
وأجهد الشيب: كثر وأسرع
And gray hair 'ajhada': it became abundant and fast.
والجهاد: الأرض المستوية
And al-jihād: the level ground.
فوالله لا أجهد اليوم بشيء أخذته لله
By God, I will not exert myself today with anything I take for God.
والمجهود: المشتهى من الطعام واللبن

والاجتهاد والتجاهد: بذل الوسع والمجهود
